SE please make a statement about the lag
please make a statement about the lag issues. be as brief and cryptic as you like if you want. but it would be nice to know if it is actually considered a problem, and if there are plans to fix it.
currently, your silence only leads me to believe that it is financially a better plan for you to let enough people quit (and therefore ease up the load on your servers and make the game playable for remaining players) than to actually fix the problem.
a last rage against the lag
I guess I can still comment. my account should be closed as of today as I am not subbing. some questions and observations about the positional aoe lag, or whatever you want to call it.
I feel that many people who have replied have told me it is my problem to take care of, and that it is not a problem caused my SE. so I have a few questions in response to that.
1. I have noticed that as a workaround I can avoid getting hit by aoe if I stop once I hit the edge of the red circle, or if I do an instant cast once I hit the edge. this forces position to update right? if the problem truly was with all of the isps, backbones etc that my data travels through, logically this would not work as a solution. if I stand still or cast an instant spell I would still be 'throttled' if that was the problem yes? I would say this alone points out faulty programming on the part of SE.
2. I can see if I bought ffxiv, then got on a plane and moved to a country where the game is not marketed, started to play it, and complained, that I really would not have any grounds to complain on. but this is not the case. I live in southern California. I bought a game that has minimum specs that my connection and computer are way beyond. it is the responsibility of SE to make sure that since they marketed the game to me in California that any backbones or connections I go through the game would still work, even connecting to a server in montreal. for all of you who keep on saying it is my responsibility, I really think you have gone off the deep end.
3. as many others I am playing games like world of warcraft, guild wars 2, rift, and others and I chat with people in those games from new Zealand, Australia, and many other places in the world. no positional lag problems is in these games.
so this is just a last rage. I know that there will be a dozen repsonses right after this telling me how things are broken on my end and SE is not at fault at all. but really, if throttling etc was the problem, how am I able to use a workaround of pausing at edge of circle or casting an instant spell. sorry but your argument does not hold up.
