PLD, Suggest a gear upgrade path please

Out of curiosity, what path do you guys suggest for upgrades?
Current on Garuda's Gaze, DL Armor, HQ Militia Gaunts with +3det, +4crit, DL belt, Hoplite pants and boots,
Darklight Kite Shield, Hoplite necklace, earings, ring. DL wrist and ring.
At 1200 philo, 840 myth, with 130 more myth possible.
Seems to get pants maybe? Also getting sick of the DL armor and debating to get surcoat and stick on the hoplite head.
Or DL legs, and valor gloves?

I know, I know. Titan first. In the meantime, what suggestions do you have?

Lodestone shows you in armorer outfit. What I personally did, and would do again if I had to is the following:

Philosophy Usage
DL Legs/Boots
Possibly DL Gloves (Compare DL gloves vs your HQ gloves)
Remaining DL items

Mythology Usage
1) Valor Surcoat
2) Valor Coronet

This would leave you in Valor Surcoat w/ Hoplite Head. The math works out that this pairing beats DL body (same can be said of Valor legs/Hoplite Feet).

How about that Relic? Need a good chunk of Philo + Myth tomes for that.

Otherwise just work to get the rest your DL accessories/jewelry, and a myth ring to replace hoplite ring. Myth head/body are worth looking for, especially head since you can't get Coil head yet.

Only need Myth to +1 your relic, otherwise the after you beat Titan you just need 900 Phylo for the oil.
I skipped the DL body/head and went straight for the Valor body. I just got my Relic and now i'm debating on upgrade path.
The Valor crown is 425 Myth, about a week and half of capping tomes, the +1 shield is only 300 Myth.
To get your +1 sword you'll need 600 Myth.

Umm... yeah, I didn't say anything to the contrary (you realize I have +1 relics too).

Personally I am not to fond of +1ing the relic/shield. +1 relic is very minor increase to stats/survivability, but is good for threat-gen. For me, I haven't had any threat issues yet with my group and am now clearing turn 4. If I started having threat issues, I'd consider curtana +1. I decided for myself and my group it was better to have better survivability than threat gen as we weren't having threat issues.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Actually, didn't see that you spent your Myth on the +1 sword.
I went with the AF2 instead of doing the +1.
Needless to say, if I didn't get the Valor body I could +1 both sword and shield by now, but I like the looks of the chest piece and will probably get the Armor over the +1's

While I can see you not upgrading the Curtana, you should have at least gone for the shield. It is a solid upgrade (14 points to both block rate and strength). The only reason I could see to NOT upgrade the shield is due to Allagan dropping from the first boss in Coil and in reality it's BiS.

I went for +1 Sword and Shield first and then got my Valor head and boots due to how my Allagan drops turned out (got body and legs in the first night). Like I said in another thread, compare the stats to what you have and what you'll be getting and go from there. Myth ring doesn't hurt to pick up, Surcoat, gloves and pants are BiS (and a guaranteed "drop") according to a build that was posted in a different thread. You're able to hit the acc cap then stack other important stats as well for the most benefit.

I forget to log out as Pld sometimes. This time I did, but still showing the Bard i was running around as just for swiftsong..
Anyways, I went ahead and got the DL legs and Myth ring.
I was reading up and noticed the Head, Gloves and Bracelet are all late, Turn 4 drops. Since Im still on Militia Gloves I figure gloves would be the best bet.
Then if I get a hoplite chest to finally drop, or Turn 1 armor, get the head piece. Otherwise I'll save up again and get the Surcoat.
I want to feel the wind on my face again.

On myth:

Ring is bis and an easy accuracy boost and dirt cheap at 375 myth so it's a no brainer.
Chest and pants are going to be bis with Allagan drops so are always a good buy.
+1 Curtana is a good buy as the Allagan sword doesn't drop until turn 5, which no one currently has down.
+1 Holy Shield is a good buy due to being so cheap but Allagan shield does drop in Turn 1 and is a better drop due to 7 Acc versus 7 Skill speed. I hold this over until after the Curtana upgrade as a result.

My plan is:
1. Ring (375 Week 2)
2. Curtana +1 (975 Week 4)
3. Holy Shield +1 (1275 Week 5)
4. Valor chest (2100 Week 7)
5. Valor pants (2925 Week 10)

I'm on Week 4, I may adjust after the Holy Shield upgrade if I manage to pick up a static BC group and score any tank drops between now and Week 7.

Also note my original plan was chest after ring, however I revised it since I finally got relic.

Just did Turn 4 last night, which completely changed my opinion.

If higher weapon damage increases Flash aggro, which I believe it does and Valk's pre-release data pointed towards, then Curtana +1 1st upgrade. Save the myths for it even if you haven't downed Titan yet.

That fight is literally you flashing 75% of the fight and riot blading the other 25% for mana. Not to mention the Soldiers that are immune to physical attacks so the only way to build aggro on them is with Flash. It's also a constant dps race, so there is no dps slowing down so that you can build a lead. I don't care if the +1 was only a small increase, I want every increase on that fight that I can get to help with aggro management and mana efficiency.

It's also a blast!

I am almost positive you still get the threat from Halone combo on Soldiers even though they don't take damage from it. When we do T4, I grab a knight/solider combo with a double flash between them, and then start halone combo on the Soldier. Depending on the healers threat, I may use the 2nd Savage Blade on the Knight.

Interestingly enough, I noticed on last nights run that Flash gets reflected by the Soldiers, and you actually take damage from it. I didn't think to get a screenshot of it, but I will definitely get one on next weeks run. Took ~500 and ~700 dmg from Flash 1 and 2 respectively.

I wonder about that... Unless there's some weird behind-the-scenes enmity calculation that happens despite doing no damage (like you would've done X damage, which would've generated Y enmity points, so have Y enmity points anyway), enmity generation should be strictly based on damage dealt (or points of healing) & enmity modifiers. I've seen on other bosses that when they do something that gives them temporary "invuln" then everything I do that isn't flash has no affect on the enmity bars because all my damage is reduced to 1. I haven't done T4 yet, so I don't know if it's the same kind of invuln as the soldiers (like can you do 1 damage to them or you get that bounce-off invuln message like when mobs outside of dungeons move out of leash range and start running back?).

Cool, I'll try that out next time. I was primarily trying to figure out where stuff spawned and get the waves memorized, so when I saw 0 damage I assumed I wasn't building any threat. It was working holding him with flash though, I was just mana starved most of the time and then trying to build up enough mana for the next wave where I got to spam flash again.

It would kind of help also if the soldier/knight buffs were actually translated from what I assume is Japanese. That kept weirding me out when I moused over them.

You still generate enmity on the Soldiers as if you are doing damage.

I am not positive but I've always assumed it was because their shield is similar to the effect of Stoneskin in that you are still doing damage, just not to the mobs HP.

Thinking back on it I believe it's actually a damage absorbtion shield, like stoneskin, which would make sense that you would still build enmity. As opposed to a damage reduction like the 2nd to last boss in CM or the Eye boss in Darkhold? I'll try it out, if I hit it with a full RoH combo I should be able to tell, I think the over all chaos of the fight may have been sticking me on Flash tunnel vision. Flash works though! Lots and lots of Flash!

While I have not down t4 yet I have no problem holding threat as a warrior on the knight/soldier with one flash and doing reg threat combo. So flash spam does not matter at that part of the fight

That was my thought as well Jahaudant. I know we've seen their shield effect drop before and melee were able to assist in finishing burning. This happened on our first few attempts while still learning positioning. Not sure if that was from dmg dealt, or time.

You want to get the Hero ring & +1 your Curtana and Shield first. Valor Surcoat is a huge waste. Allagan body drops in T1. Get the Coronet next as it drops from T5.

My path was full DL and myth used for relic +1 (sword and shield). You don't "need" it right away but if you are doing coil it helps a ton on turn 4. Also once your dps starts to get decked out as mine are you wouldn't hold their threat without it. Then I went to AF2 gloves and Hero's ring while saving up myth to see what drop's first in coil, body or boots. Either one of those drop and I will get the af2 off piece.

You do in fact get threat from comboing on the soldiers. Flash as well is considered magic so they do reflect it back to u as dmg. Ever want to know what your threat is from flash? Just use it on a soldier and watch the dmg you take!

While you can make a case for the Valor/Allagan Body, you lose points for suggesting the Hero Ring as an early upgrade. Upgrade from Hoplite Ring -> Hero is 7VIT, 5Acc, 3ACC. All this does is prolong your time till getting items that will have larger impact. Just as an example: Changing DL legs/feet combo into Valor Legs/Hoplite Feet. Net gain: 2DEF, 6STR, 8VIT, 4Parry, -8ACC, DET10. This changes further if you get Heavy Allagan Flanchard which is a Turn 1 drop. Not saying the Legs are best first purchase by any means, just using them as example to counter the Ring.

EDIT: Also, made error in original post about flash being reflected. Its actually reflected by the knights, not the soldiers. Soldier has the melee stoneskin effect, knight has the magic reflect.
