Server transfer problem.

Hi, I've sent in contact email as well but have yet to hear or even get confirmation that it's been submitted. Reference number is 3046884.

Anyroad, the issue is basically that I'm pretty much stuck being unable to transfer my character to a new server when all my friends have already done so. The main reason why I even bought this game was to play with them yet it seems I'm prevented from doing that.

The whole process seems to work ok at first when I select server to and from and select my character but as soon as I click proceed, it gives me "The World Transfer service is unavailable, or the website is currently under maintenance.
Please wait and try again."

To be clear, I have not transferred any character before at all. This is the first time so I shouldn't have any issue. I've been having this issue for couple days now and before that it was due to some other error and whatnot. The free transfer's supposed to end in few hours and I'm pretty much sitting here stuck outside and prevented from playing with my friends.

I've tried clearing cookies, I've tried new browser, I've tried refreshing dozen times to no avail.

Any sort of help would be much appreciated.

Having the same problem! Someone says it has something to do with Characters that have been made when they started the world transfers

I have the exact same problem and I think OkY is correct in what he said about when the characters were made, as I've seen other people with this problem coming to the same conclusion. On top of that my friends have no problem transferring characters that they've left un-touched before the free transfer period.

After I remade my 1.0 character, as per required, I tried to transfer it to the server that all of my friends are playing on and I ran into exact same thing Imhugi is having problems with. I've tried every avaliable web browser at different times of day for the last two days, even on different computers, and I still end up with the same "World Transfer service is unavailable" message when I try to proceed with the transfer.

I meet all the requirements for World Transfer and my character is from 1.0 so that the 3 day creation limit shouldn't be a problem. My destination server has been open to new characters as well so I don't think it's a congestion problem.

I've sent in my inquiry ticket but they say that they only respond on business days and I really don't want to have to spend the hefty transfer fee because the system decided to bug out.

Update: I just got a response from..."Template@Sheet" of the XIV Support Team :/ and they replied with the following message:

I really don't think server congestion is my problem since, like I stated before, my friends have had no problem transferring characters that were made or modified before the free World Transfer period. Also, wasn't the email service supposed to put me in contact with a real person?

Edit: If anyone else is having this specific issue, please speak up because it seems like tech support is only chalking it up to people whining about high traffic and I really don't think that's the case.

I tried to transfer from Gilgamesh to both Faerie and then Leviathan (one then the other), and got "unable to transfer at the time", perhaps server congestion? Restrictions are in place because its almost 6pm est? Will try again later though.

I had 3 characters on the same account, all carried over from 1.0
I could transfer the character which I logged in before the transfer started perfectly fine
The other two I can't.
They all come from the same server and move to the same server as well. They're also 'older' than the 3 days stated. Older in the sense that I logged into the game with them over 3 days ago.

I'm still having this problem trying every day multiple times of day, emailed support twice and they say it should work but wont do a manual transfer.
I was able to move another character, but one of my alt characters cant move to ANY other server.

This is probably the issue with one of my characters since I made it around the time it started, but over 3 days have elapsed and it still cant be moved.

I had the same response from the support, and no, it's not the congestion at all. It's definitely some type of error and I do think it's because my character was made after the transfer begun. I do meet all the requirements so I can't think up any other reason why I'm the only one that's prevented from transferring while all my friends can(and have).

This is down right frustrating. I'm basically left out from playing with my friends just because I decided to buy the game at the wrong time. I would have rolled on the destination server from get go if I knew this would be a problem. Only reason why I rolled it on other server was because the destination server was restricted from new character creation during prime time and that would mean I had to get up in the morning to make the character.

The whole transfer guideline doesn't say anything about newly created characters (other than three day mark) so..yeah, it's kinda misleading.

I'm not too fond of how they're handling the support contacts either. Seems like they don't even read it and as soon as they see 'transfer' they just copy/paste the response.

Personally starting to really regret ever getting this game if the support's like this. The least they can do is look it up and give solid answer.

And....I'm out. 4 days of trying with nothing from support, not even a canned response! Can't play with friends now on top of everything else, and I thought SOE's service was bad! Left my account active until the end of the month in case they decide to admit they had problems and re-open transfers, but cant see paying anymore with this kind of service.

SE's customer service is only slightly better than Cryptic/PWE. I have a ticket that's still open... that I filed at the end of August.

Yup, in same situation here as well. Not at all happy with how they are handling this. (or lack of)

At the recommendation of my friend I sent a response to the robo-mail explaining that I didn't think the problem was server congestion and that it was more likely to be a problem with the character. This is the response I got at 1:25 AM EST:

Not sure why my response got shunted to the GM team cause all they did was point me back to the place I was already asking for help in.

My friend whom happens to have been a long time XI player insisted that if I was persistent, tech support would eventually come through. I really hope he's right cause this is kind of killing my enthusiasm for this game.

I've sent another response going over the important details again begging for any kind of real help in this matter. I wish everyone else luck as well.

So if this works out, than thanks for finally coming through XIV Support. I'll update my post when I see the results.

I didnt even get as far as some of these posters did. I tried on Sat night, as well as Sun night. I was able to select my destination server, but the current server list didnt even have the server that my toon was on. (I wanted to transfer from Durandel to Gilgamesh) Because of the fiasco during launch, I have multiple characters on many servers(I Just wanted to play and check the game out at some point so I created a toon wherever they would let me) But now that I am on Durandel and level 31 that is the toon I want to keep and transfer. But Durandel was not a server listed in my drop down menu. Maybe I missed something, but the *free* server transfer weekend was BS for me.

I wish I got an email response like yours OneMech. The one I got was this when I submitted a ticket:

I was getting the same error as Imhugi and after I got this email I assumed that I just had to log in at a different time and do the transfer. Now that I've missed the window, I'm pretty frustrated. I guess I'll submit a ticket again and hopefully get a better response. I really want to play with all my friends on their server. :(

This is the response I got from them recently. However, I've personally already remade my character (though with great irritation at the time) and have no need for their help anymore. I feel better that they've taken the time to look it over and actually offer to help though so that's always good.

I'm posting this here just so people who are/were having an issue can try and get it resolved too. All I did was reply and explain to the auto-response email I got after submitting the problem to the support team. Now, obviously since I don't need the transfer anymore I can't verify if they really will go through with their offer but it's better than nothing.

Update: Now that the Transfer Service is up and running Customer Support contacted me again with the following:

We are contacting you in regards to the World Transfer Service assistance you requested. We are more than happy to help with the transfer request; however there has been a change on the gil limitation.

The gil that can be moved over is set to 1,000,000 gil per character and 100,000 per retainer. If you have anymore than the amount noted above, the excess gil will be lost after the transfer. Before we can process the world service transfer request, we will need for you to reply to this email whether or not you agree with the changes. Once we receive your reply, we will move forward with moving the characters you requested.

I've stated that I've agreed to their terms and hope things work out.

So the two day wait for a response ended up turning into a week long + wait.

I didn't want to say anything and figured it'd resolve itself since I was facing the problems others were having involving transferring characters but then I finally got a response from Squenix which didn't solve any of my problems at all

No shit, I know it concluded on the 22nd but the fact I couldn't transfer a character during that free period and now they expect me to pay, without even saying anything involving "Sorry for the convenience" at least, makes me wonder if they actually read tickets at all. -facepalm-

I've been in "queue" for a transfer since 10/21. Still waiting.
