I understand it's supposed to deter people from basically rage quitting a dungeon, but some people either can't comprehend mechanics or just don't have the gear to get past some areas.
I just finished a failed WP, the timer was at 45 minutes and we were still on the 2nd boss. Finally the healer decided he had enough after the 5th or 6th wipe on it so she left, then the other dps who couldn't carry the blm left then I was about to leave when somehow more people showed up.
Obviously the blm hit add members not thinking it was his fault for us not being able to kill the adds quick enough so that's when I left. I try to queue again and I have a 15 minute timer.
First off, I thought the 15 minute timer was only put on the first person to leave? So now everyone who leaves a DF group gets a 15 minute timer? How is this a positive thing?
What's the actual point of this 15 minute lockout timer.....

The lockout timer is basically there so people can't jump in and out of groups as they please until they find one that suits them. It also makes people try to work through wipes instead of just dropping at the first wipe. So yes there is a point to it. Rewarding people who rage quit is just silly. 45 minutes for two bosses in WP is plenty tbh.
Can't say why you were wiping since don't know the party set up or what was happening. That second boss is ridiculously easy though. Especially if you have a WHM since they can kill the adds on their own while the DPS focus on the boss. -

What if your running AK and you get to demon wall and you wipe three times because the healer just can't grasp repel. You've already spent about 15-20 minutes in the dungeon and you decide that you'd rather leave and waste that entire 15-20 minutes then stay there and potentially wipe some more. So SE's logic is "screw you for leaving first, here's another 15 minutes until you can queue again."Quote:

what will happpen if SE removed the 15 limit? Let's see.....
Enter the jerk tank with instant queue. He enters DF - instance pops. He then skips the intro and leaves immediately. The other players won't even see his name, since he is gone before they load up wasting the long waiting time for the dps especially. And he can do it again and agian and again.
And that has already happened to me - even with the 15 penalty. -

Square has pretty archaic mechanics across the board, this being one of them.
Other games have some way of detecting whether you've wiped X times, or you've at least cleared Y bosses and doesn't penalise you for leaving under certain circumstances. -

Actually this 15 minute lockout timer is the most retarded idea ever conceived.
All it does it waste more time while people muck around hoping someone will leave after the group is no longer working .
What they need to do is have everyone who leaves DUTY first or last gets 15 minute timer , so you either complete the DUTY or get 15 minutes in the sinbin.
The only problem is people can troll this , so they need vote kick tbh . -

Of course some things like language barrier make it impossible to be able to explain what they are doing wrong but making it easier for people to just quit is not the answer to the issue.
And vote kick is 90% of the time abused by people up their own backsides. "No Relic weapon?" *Vote kick*. "Died on boss?" *Vote kick* "My DPS meter says you are the lowest DPS" *Vote kick* "I want the WHM loot so the other WHM has to leave" *Vote kick* and so on. -

IF there was no lockout timer, I cant tell you how many tanks/healers would have bailed on HM Ifrit on seeing no Black mage or summoner. They would then get another instaqueue for tanks and a 5-10 min queue for healers, leaving the other dps in a 30-40min queue.
Although a 3 wipes and you can quit option would be acceptable. -

IF you get kicked for having shitty dps or dying to mechanics, you probably deserved it.
