the voice overs we have now aren't THAT great (I've actually turned off all FFXIV sound because of some of them..)
Yes please, i find it very annoying there isn't much voice overs.
I play with the music off, and my Itunes on shuffle under Nobuo Uematsu..
Before the game went live in some of the interviews they said that almost the entire game had voice overs. If you want to see a game that does look up GW2. I'm not promoting the game just showing how awsome it would be if SE had that in their game among other aspect that GW2 has.
They should get David Attenborough to narrate all the quest text. It will give it that educational & documentary feel.
every mmo needs more voiceovers
but they arent cheap to do so most opt to do text instead
WTB neil patrick harris voiceovers
Dude, do you ever stop crying?
I'm not stalking you, seriously, but all I read from you is cry, cry, whine, cry, whimper, sniff, almost serious, sniff, cry, whine, and guess what, cry.
Dude, it is getting old. We get it that SE dropped the ball and is working in getting it resolved, stop with the sniffles.
I change my mind since this is a JP game. Akemi Okamura(One Piece - Nami VA) voice to do all the narrations, in a Kansai Dialect.
Voice over is one of million reasons why FFX is better than FFXIV
voice overs are very over rated
Dear god no! And FFX voice overs are terrible too! I really hope you won't waste your time on something as useless as this.
Voice acting always breaks the immersion.
That and 99% of the time it is easier to read something then to get everything from VO. Not all people pronouce words the same and it can be hard to understand it. Or there are those that play are deaf. I rather rely on text then VO. Most games with full vo can get annoying.
Precious few voice dubs sound very good. I'd personally rather have the original Japanese every time (one rather large disappointment I have had with FF titles).
But voice overs aren't everything. Between lore complaints and now a voiceover thread, I guess there are just too few people these days that will actually pick up a book.
Edit: lol, I made this post with no knowledge of what was going to be posted above me. :)
2nd edit: I should also be clear that I'm not against the OP's request. On a wide-scale standpoint, more cutscenes and voiceovers would probably attract more people.
Note to self, only the troll community here understands jokes.
Edit: Apologies Chezen, did not see edit :D
Wow, people don't like voice-overs?
I love voice overs! Especially when the voice over people have funny english accents (like in FFXIV!).
But I guess you people are too used to reading your anime with subtitles and your manga and studying algebra or something to know that voice-overs, however sparse, improves a game.
Everything in FFXIV is just so silent. By way of example, even when I kill beastmen, they don't talk to me. They don't even care that theyre being killed. It's like im playing a fucking mime.
Reading is good for you.
Even if the NPCs just said hi when you came up to them or something, it would be a vast improvement to the vocally barren wasteland that is this so-called immersive story-centric game.
Play a game with 100% vo. You will slowly tune it out. Like in Elder scrolls or fable 2 and 3. I rather play a game then watch a movie tbh. :) Not hating vo, just do not find it appealing in video games. I read faster then an npc talks.
I think that more voice overs in the cut-scenes would be awesome. Specifically, more voice overs in the main plot quest, and in the job quests. Regular NPCs, side quests, and characters that don't talk in actual cut-scenes, no thank you. I can read much faster than I can listen to someone speak, and I don't want to be stuck waiting.
I'm not going to lie, when I started playing XIV I hated it. After spending a fair amount of time playing, I have grown fond of it. All of the little problems that are in the game are just that. Little problems. So we don't have voice overs, or there is copious amounts of text. Oh well, we have to deal with it and enjoy it. I mean don't we play to enjoy it anyway? Don't read too much into this, just the ramblings of a madman...
I just enter-enter-enter everything but the main story and job quests, so far so good. They heard we wanted lore and backstory... and they gave us blah-blah-blah.
I grew up on JRPGs and PCRPGs, and books, so I don't mind reading at all, except that I want to read about awesome epic events that shaped the world, the backstory of evil empire guys, maybe a hint or two about the mysteries of the world. I don't give a spoon about why I have to kill 9 chigoes, or collect buffalo dung, or kill stupid furballs for some ultimately inconsequential easter event.
And that's why I don't read all that trivial, worthless info, or care if they add voice to it.
Autsiogo you are out of line! I'm telling on you for being mean!
