I don't understand why people think there is such a HUGE gap between the WAR and PLD. I have an great WAR in my FC. I prefer him over all Paladins I have played with. The class is generally regarded as a great AoE tank that deals massive damage for a tank. It isn't. Its a tank that has a huge HP pool and recovers it himself.
- My FC WAR uses Inner Beast pretty much every 5 stacks.
- Pops Bloodbath and Thrill of Battle every time they are available.
- Uses Storm's Path or Storms Eye as needed. (Path = Immediate healing and Eye = Every other case)
- Holds aggro better than every Paladin I have ever seen.
I'll admit the healing effects could use some buffs. If used properly the WAR is only a little behind Paladin and it is easily fixable. My Suggestions for SE:
Bloodbath
A) Shorten Cooldown to 60 seconds
B) Increase Potency to 50%
Storm's Eye
A) Add 50% buff to healing received for 15 seconds
Storm's Path
A) Remove 50% buff to healing received
B) Increase slash resistance debuff potency to 15%*
Thrill of Battle
A) Adds a Refresh** with a potency of 50 for 15 seconds ***
------------------
*To help counter the loss of damage due to using Eye over Path
**Refreshes TP rather than WHM's MP Refresh (Maybe different name) (Imbue?)
***The whole effect is an effort to counter the increase TP cost for using Storm's Eye more as it has 20 more TP cost. Thrill of Battle was chosen because it is rarely used despite its decent amount of healing and because its cooldown is the same as the Shroud of Saints refresh.

The issue is warrior mitigation is based off of warrior dps (for the most part) while paladins scale with incoming mob damage... Warriors are better for easy content but paladins start to get way better when the bosses really start to hit hard AKA HM titan and coil - the two places your friend has not been - so your post is pretty much... well worthless. It is already well know where warriors start to fall behind.

Storms path is only a 50% healing on the damage you've done, not a buff to healing received. Its almost the most useless ability we have in our arsenal. Have healing received increased based on a percentage, and our class will be fine. Currently paladin is miles ahead in terms of mitigation.

Warrior can do coil just fine, but if you think your going to tank coil in hoplite gear, don't waste your time. I didn't get turn 1 down until I finished my DL pants and AF2 helm. So Relic, 2 pieces of AF2, and Full DL Everything else. At that point warrior becomes a LOT better. They have a higher gear check for sure. But even paladin has a high gear check. Warriors are better than Paladin's if the paladin is out of cooldowns, which can and does happen. When the pld's cooldowns are down, it's nice to have a warrior be able to provoke it off and pop his crap and soak up some dmg.

And for myself, it's irrelevant. I have war and pld leveled up. My pld has garuda wep and the alagan shield from turn 1 and full DL except for chest/head. My warrior has relic and af2 helm and af2 chest. So I can switch out if needed as needed, but my FC prefers me to go on war so I haven't switched out yet. On slimes on turn 1 I can down them and feed fast enough without taking dps off the boss and I dont get hit as hard as a brd grabbing slimes. Warrior stun is also great for those O'Shit scenarios where your pld is stuck mid GCD and can't get their stun off in time.
Turn 2, 2 paladins is great for the silences because the silence is off the GCD, but we were trying it with a pld, brd, mnk. I just provoked off at 4 stacks and stayed out of red crosses.
