So what are you doing to keep yourself interested in FF14?
I'm separating my fun between two games now since FF14 is still in the early stage of its life.
FF14 for basic MMORPG and Sim life (housing will be a blast and the game is more about multitasking though your combat, gathering, and crafting skills)
The Secret World for Mystery solving, High tech guns with magic, and Worlds colliding storylines.
Who how to keep interested?

I got into crafting.
Seriously the most fun I've had crafting in a game. I can't stop! While waiting for dungeons, when others would probably be leveling other DoW/DoM, I'm crafting.
I also watch movies and TV shows while gathering. -

Taking my time and enjoying the whole game.
Working on my crafts/gathering and not rushing to end-game. I just achieved 50 on my BLM and hit the main story to do CM just the other night. No hurry for me. It's more important to work on crafts right now because end-game will always be there and I like to be self sufficient. -

I'm currently spending the majority of my time on xiv. I play through FF IV while I wait for fates though, if I happen to be leveling.

Crafting, gathering, exploring...it's still filling my time. I expect new content to beat me to any boredom that could be found...Hopefully the housing is not a letdown. That will make or break this game for me. If it's not interactive furny and customization galore...Then I will quickly become bored here.

I wasn't one of the people to rush to endgame in the first week and I've been playing almost every moment I'm not at work. There's plenty to keep busy with at least until 2.1 as long as you are burning through everything. I stop and read the quests. I Craft. I try out classes that don't necessarily seem interesting with my playstyle(i'm always a caster, but I found archer and monk surprisingly intertaining).
I'm also helping a few friends level that work more hours than I do so I get to go back and do old dungeons regularly. Except Aurum Vale. That place needs to fall into a dark hole and explode.
If I start to feel burnt out I might consider picking up Pokemon X and Y. We'll see, since I supposed I'd have to buy a 3DS to go along with it. :/ -

New content is set to be every 2.5 month by average so there got to be something else for me to do for a midpoint to prevent myself from burning through the contents during my free time. Got to take the contents slowly after all since progress wasn't intented to be burned through this fast yet. By average a casual player who takes his or her time should only take about 1 month to go through the new content so it leaves about 1.5 months to find something else to do. (Hardcore is still a week average)
(Which reminds me that i need to lvl my Thau and Conjurer to lvl 30 to finish the rest of the class story quests eventually) -

I pace myself. Did a bunch of AK yesterday and almost got enough for my AF+1 chest piece, setting small goals is the easiest way for me to keep interested. Spreading my time into KSP is also good since it makes ARR feel a bit more refreshing when I log back in at a later time in the day.

I started at about 40k gil, and by the time I got WVR up to Lv50, I had 500k. Linen products were extremely profitable. By the time I got CRP up to Lv50, I had 800k. Not as profitable, but HQ WVR and GSM offhands sell very well. Now I'm making a lot of money on Relic precursors.Quote:

It's actually tougher to make money while leveling crafting on a Legacy server, since there are a lot less low levels to sell gear to (and those who are low level are usually Legacy players who make their own gear), but I've managed to make a good amount of money selling materials. It's really just a matter of gathering crafting mats yourself and selling the excess.Quote:
