Good, it had to happen.
I don't care about the change or if it's "right" or "wrong", but the fact that Square Enix had a representative state it is working as intended, and then went ahead and changed it just is so frustrating... same old usual Square Enix top notch customer appreciation. :(

I'm all for it, didn't care either way but the bile and vitriol on this forum about the topic (and apparently in game) means it's a good thing, now no more insulting people for killing the lambs.

It may have been 'working as intended', but who's to say that the representative didn't think that there was noone attacking the target mobs? From what I understand, the idea of the respawning cultists was to harrass those attacking the lambs, similar to those turn-in fates where you have those static objects you can gather while aggressive mobs wander close-by to attack any who try. With all the attention people heaped on that particular fate was it any surprise that Square would take a look at how it was being handled and make a judgement based on that? Obviously, it wasn't working as intended, just as Amdapor Keep wasn't working as intended nor Castrum Meridianum wasn't working as intended.
You can still chain really high on the cores one, when people don't hand in you can bank upwards of 80k exp. I was surprised when people actually handed in the cores before 14 minutes were gone past. Meh whatever.
I'm glad it's gone, I really they went a different way about it though, maybe add NPC's that attack the lams etc. It was fun with things contentiously spawning, gave it a realistic feel.
Would someone please define the acronym used here? I think of "DD" as damage dealers. Of what subject are we speaking here?

Glad they changed this, way to much drama on that map because of that fate. Just a shame they said it was running as intended then changed it.

It was working as intended.
Now the intention is something new.
This is a dynamic game, and the developers have the freedom to make small and sweeping changes at a whim.
And we have the freedom to stay or leave at a whim.
Isn't freedom wonderful? ^.^
Wasting dev/hotfix time on nerfing a single fate instead of using that time to buff leve/dungeon/hunting log exp.
Logic, where?
46 - > 50 is already hell on earth/boring, why make it worse by making it take longer? it's even bad on your FIRST level 50, because you run out of quests f or 3 levels.

Dear god I'm thankfully they weren't actually serious when they said that. Trolololo to the people who defended it though.
It was working as intended. What wasn't working as they intended was the amount of harassment someone got for killing lambs to early. Whether they knew no better, didn't care or just wanted to annoy everyone it was always the same. I even saw very colorful death threats on my server. Add on to that the people that started demanding gil to not kill the lambs and SE had to change it. It sucks but now I'll just run AV and farm tomes from 47 up.
If I remember right they just said that it wasn't an exploit. Meant that it protected the players from getting banned if they were abusing the FATE in the way it was. Didn't say that it wouldn't be a design flaw that's ought to be fixed eventually though.
DD was broken. How could you say otherwise? It had the potential to give 5-8 times more exp than anything in the game once every 30-45 minutes.

All I can say is 'good'. That fate was nothing but a free ride to 50 and spawned a lot of toxic behaviour. I've only done it once and I killed the lambs, I didn't care.
There are many fates that can be abused the same way, like any item turn in fate. That why this it's so confusing why they nerfed a single one, when there's numerous others, two being in the EXACT SAME ZONE AS DD, that can be abused in the same way.
"Free ride", logging into the game is basically a free ride to 50. Doing any fate in the world and leveling off fates is a free ride, how is nerfing one single fate going to change anything?
It's not.
They should've hotfixed in a 400% leve and 600% dungeon + hunting log exp boost as well. That is dev time well spent, not nerfing something that can be done in hundreds of fate all over the world.
People aren't smart, that's why. You can do the earth sprite item turn in fate in the same zone as DD and farm the eles for 20 mins for insane experience as well. There's tons of fates like that all over the place, people just don't take advantage of them.

I am feeling this way as well. The initial comment from SE was to more or less to convey they weren't going to be even looking at players doing the event as possible exploiters. But this nerf shows it was an abused fate.
As for the turn in fates that also can be abused for larg exp, I feel there is still a large difference between any of them and DD. First DD still gave gold for just killing, turn ins still require turning in the drops to get credit. This makes it much harder to change how those fates work as limiting spawns makes them much more exclusive.
@Shiyo - If it can be done at FATEs in every other zone in the entire game world, then explain to me please why it's *not* being done there already, in any way that compares to DD? It's not like 46-50 is the only grind in existence; any of the classes become a grind after about 25-30 if you don't have quests available to help speed it along.
For myself, I'm extremely glad they nerfed it. For those upset over the nerf, remember this next time the people abusing it, as a community, start to create a miserable experience for those who don't wish to abuse it. That's likely what sparked the hotfix.
The abuse and harrassment was enough to justify this fix. It's remarkably easy to get 50 in this game, and in a week people won't care anymore.
And the cycle starts again... :)

Lol... If they had not nerfed this and they do indeed drop gil now... That would be the best GIL Fountain EVER, literally a fountain lol.
so what happened here? there were infinite waves of enemies during the NM portions? Is that what they changed?
If so... it's still a solid fate chain, I don't see any reason to complain unless they also nerfed the win EXP.
This is primarily why I don't like using acronyms in conversation. "DD" universally means "Damage Dealer", but could mean "Dzemael Darkhold" also. Four or five posts into the topic is when I finally discover they're talking about a FATE.
It was broken, everyone knew it. Everyone abused until it's all patched up. On to other things.
