AF2 Should be more than a RECOLOR

That's right, it is almost identical minus the color shade change, You won't let us dye end game armor, so PLEASE don't be lazy and copy/paste half the gear in the game. Make it unique.

Would really love to see this with 2.1, If you're going to keep using the trash can sets / Robe+cowl styles allow us to dye it at the least...

Better yet get some folks who can design NEW armors.


All of this of course after your deal with server security, Teleporting hackers, and RMT.

As kinda said, it's +1 so effectively the same piece of equipment only better. AF2 will probably be released at a different level cap if XI's model is anything to look at (it's incredibly similar at the moment).

You want Unique AF2?
Here's tips from me. Make yourself a FC (or join one), design the crest. Go to the OIC Officer of your Grand Company and ask him to stamp the FC logo to your AF2 armors.

Correct its not our AF2 its our "relic" set Waiting for next expansion when we will see level cap (if not new raid content and armor sets)

At least someone else agrees on this lol The only actual noticeable ones are drg, pld, brd and war. The rest are barely any changes :/ I stood next to another blm, I have the relic body, for a while I thought "Oh hey, he has it too" NOPE, it was AF.

sorry for the names, RELIC ASIDE, How can anyone say this game has a huge variety of armor? oh that's right because it doesn't 50% of tank sets are the combined chest/helm crap

Nobody said there was a huge variety at all, there isn't but there will most likely be more added in later updates and expansions. The closest one would be new sets in the Crystal Tower, although nobody knows what they will look like yet. The game is still incredibly young.

Young or not, it has depressingly little armor variety compared to other MMOs when they released. That some of the best gear in the game is little more than a recolor of the armor you get handed to you from class quests at 45 and 50 kind of kills a lot of the want for armor progression for me.

Isn't it what the community want? AF in different colors?

I pretty sure the community didnt want this, For example 1.0 while similar, at lest had a little variety because you werent bound to what armor you could wear, and BELTS pieces actually showed, not hidden like they are now.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought that replacing the iconic AF set you got at 45/50 almost immediately was kind of disappointing. The Relic armour gives me a chance to take on that iconic look again, but look different enough for people to say "Oh now that's one serious BRD" (not that I have the BRD Relic set yet but that's what I'll like the look for).

I'm wondering if it was something they did before they made any decisions about vanity gear. For a while, one of the big complaints was that the game didn't look or feel "final fantasy enough" and that the job classes weren't "final fantasy enough." So when the new jobs were announced along with their relic gear, everyone seemed pretty happy that they looked like actual Final Fantasy jobs. The gear is short lived though, so maintaining that look and feel while giving better stats seems like a good thing to me.

I keep seeing all these conflicting names of what the armor is called...does anyone actually have a screenshot from in game of what its called? afaik it is called mythology gear because that is what the NPC who sells it calls it..other then that it goes by the title like Clerics, Summoners, etc...

People refer to it as AF2 or Relic armor due to the fact that it is the same name as in FFXI, both the AF1(which is given to u) and the AF2/Relic. I think the actual item code is AF1+1 or something, never looked.

ya i loved paladin relic, but darklight? they can keep that trash. It made me not want to continue until 2.1 comes with something nice

It's certainly not what I wanted. As for the update... One or two armor sets doesn't solve the problem. We flat out need more variety 1-50.

You know all the jobs are going to get their own pvp sets?... so its not just one or two armor sets.

um lets see wow in its Infant stages had only Tier 1 and 2 Basically what we have now.... If yo uwant to count the Dungeon set thats fine then its .5 (af) 1 (DL) 2(Relic/allegan) please come up with a much better arguement

You're missing the point, it also had a fudge ton of variety 1-60 as well.

Also, every class was different in respects to teir 2, DL shares classes meaning warrior/Pld share the same etc.

You sir, come up with a better argument.

I suppose they intend to follow XI's armor path for the jobs =p AF and Relic we're just recolors, but really noticeable recolors, then AF3 hit the scene and it was different stuff =p some of which was designed off of other FFs that job appeared in, instead of the first FF it appeared in.
Howver Kudos to the for making the Relic armor quite useful for all jobs in this game =p Dragoon relic was basically a joke in XI helm and body aside

3 year old game =/= infant stages.

Exactly. There's precious little difference in armors 1-50 and only a few unique end game sets.

I call it AF2, however I understand what ppl mean when they say relic gear. But I dont get ppl that get mad when I call it AF2 and say its relic, I mean if it was actually relic wouldn't it be labeled as relic, right now its labeled as a unique gear for jobs, and that to me fits AF requirements and since there is already AF1 it would more than likely be the next tier up AF2.

Thats just my thinking on it.

Thats what i was thinking as well, but you know people get butthurt when you don't call it what it is, See post #2, He must be new to the FF franchise

I call it AF2 primarily from my time from XI, I love the iconic look of the AF sets but if they do follow what they did in XI in terms of armour design, I will be excited to see what changes they make to them.

Or they could have atleast given them an interesting DIFFERENT color. Monk goes from yellow to NEON yellow?! Who's bright idea was that? They couldn't have gone with red/black/green/anything?

I like the fact that everyone mistakes my SMN body for the AF version. (Including me)

I would say AF2 in XI was a reskin, it had some variations in the pattern apart from the change of colour
