Our Free Company is seeing a decline in active members online. We had 30-50 active people on Mumble in the first few weeks and now I'm seeing less than 10 active members. I spoke to another guy from a FC the same size as ours and asked him if he saw any decline in his membership and he responded: "HUGE DROP! It's like they don't want to pay the monthly anymore."
Is anyone else seeing a drop like this?

I'm not in a FC, but I get sick of the random invites and ignore them.
That said I was originally in a linkshell in V1, but I quit after a month then. When I started V2, there was 8 people on usually throughout the day. Then as of this week I've noticed there's only ever like 2 people.
I imagine part of the problem is the people who rushed the game, and the other part is that some FC's are nothing but invite-spam and people probably quit the game and didn't say anything. -

Nope, the FC I'm in has been gaining members at a rapid pace. Seem to get fifteen plus new members a day. Pushing near the cap we can have. That's without spamming and the like. So might just be bad luck on your guys parts. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the massive drop off is people not subscribing after the 30 days.

My FC is gaining members, but fewer people are on at any given time. However, this is completely normal in any game -- the busiest time with the most concurrent connections is always in the first weeks, then people begin to fall into a pattern of play that is more typical of their lives.
This, of course, doesn't count player churn which is also part and parcel for any game. Even the greatest game ever made will lose somewhere between 25 and 50% of its players early on. That's why new players are important. I was running a guy through Toto-rak the day before yesterday who had just bought the game along with his friend. These are the people that will make or break the game and keep our FC's healthy. -

Most of the people in our FC that haven't been on lately are busy as their schoolwork is picking up. It has nothing to do with the game.

We did all our recruitment through online recruitment pages before beta and during beta, then stopped open recruitment once release came August 27th. We've only been recruiting based off reputation alone. We had a solid community the first few weeks and it's just sad to see a lot of good people leave without a word.Quote:

It's kind of hard to be motivated when one of the jobs your playing (Warrior) is considered not viable and people wont even give you a chance.
Hopefully your FC isn't anti Warrior like a good handful of them. -

Get to mythos cap in one or two days doing 8 or so AK runs....then maybe if you are in HC guild, clear coil up to as far as can be made in a few hours...then go play GTA V online for the rest of the week? Rinse, repeat?

We're still at 512/512 with a good number of people in an overflow group, and we still get up to about 150-200 active at EST prime time. We only had a modest falloff from the 1.0 free weeks ending.

My FC had some drama happen and some people left.. used to be like 201 members now we have like 150 and it seems like it does keep dropping. I feel like the people that left before are picking people off 1 at a time to join their new FC lol

Simply put its like any MMO that is new there is 0 to very little end game if your just sitting at level 50 with no ambition to level another job. Grinding the same dungeon over and over and over is pretty shabby endgame. But if you like the core mechanics of the game stick around because no one supports their MMO better then SE. I'm willing to bet that within a year the game will have tripled in size and things to do. All the games elements that are suppose to be in it aren't even there yet. pvp and housing should drop in mid Nov
No idea whats taking them so long with server transfer set up. We were suppose to have it early to mid sept.... -

My FC has leveled out with pretty much a core group of players, we aren't big by any stretch of the imagination, about 30+ people in comparison to the "mega" FCs on the server.
I prefer a smaller, tight knit community to a large, faceless mob of people who may never even speak to each other. We did lose a few people to the free period ending, but that's normal in any MMO from my experience.

FFXIV lost my husband recently due to the release of a new Rune Factory game. Also, he's working full time and going to school.
Oh, and I should give you all fair warning, a new pokemon game is coming out tomorrow (or tonight at midnight depending on how dedicated you are) so you may lose even more players :D -

Nope our free company has been gaining members across multiple time zones, having to put up restrictions currently. Have an EU group going through coil and several NA groups at turn 5. About to have enough to open a 2nd EU coil group and 3rd NA.
FC has enough to handle anything SE can throw at us. Averaging around 16 on during EU every day and 25+ at one time during NA. Total Active membership around 59 (active as in 20+hrs a week).
Not seeing an issue at all on my side. We had to reduce how many weekly events we do, simply because coil last 1day now. Hoping 2.1 fixes that with more content.
The massive free companies of 100+, I see them as either being a casual company or gaming community style company. In my experience both those kinds have massive fluctuation of membership to begin with due to the design and focus on the guild. Nothing wrong with them but the more casual they are the more variance in members usually.
