Thank you SE for making the SAME mistake you did 10 years ago

Most (if not all) of the cases of people complaining about "server" lag and unable to see monsters in FATES are PS3 players.

It is VERY possible that one of the MAIN reasons the graphics were a little bit downgrades was the PS3.

But what now is really getting me annyoed is the "limiting players per field" this meassure in this day in age is ABSURD and retarded.

SE is taking IMO all the wrong steps to fix things

I'd like to see what you think are the right steps.

An 11 year running highly successful MMORPG isn't a mistake. Fyi: XIV 1.0 was designed with the PS3 in mind as well.

All my static plays on PC and starting 9p.m. each day we start to experience heavy lag, first it is 0-1 sec, then it becomes 10-15 seconds lag and freezes all over the place. And it has been like that for 3 weeks now (there were no problems at all until last maintance). So, no, it has nothing to do with PS3.

I am not saying it is JUST the ps3. But from friends that play on PS3 and some people that have been reporting issues on FATES here are mostly p3 players.

I DO think that this game is in one way or another limited by the PS3

Low-budget PCs never limit games (sarcasm)

My PC is top notch (I5 3570K, GTX 780 Classified, 8GB DDR3, SSD) and I still cant see Odin or Behemoth at times its not a PS3 issue its an issue with the code which they need to fix. I also have 50MB Internet, and until the last maint had 0 lag in CM and such, day after maint. I had horrible lag as did everyone in my party

Then start collecting and providing proof to back your statements. Otherwise, this thread is a waste and flame bait.

You know, for all we know, they might be limiting a certain player's level from entering a specific "zone" or even the behemoth/odin FATE area/instance.

If that's the case, GOOD! Personally, the odin/behemoth gear you can obtain from the item drops are worthless - but what is even more worthless is the level 45's and below that swarm these FATES and actually think they're making a contribution.

If you're going to complain about "lag" during these sort of FATE instances, blame the ill-informed lower levels that think they have a chance in these fights...

Well I am not a programmer so I cant really say.. but i think that instead of reducing or capping zones, things like the following could possibly be made

1. Make certain FATES instnaced or add an independent area for them
2. Work on the servers to increase capacity.

Not the case too, I build a new rig ~2 months ago for FFXIV which costed me ~4'000$. So I'm sure the lag problem is only on server side and if aoes keep hitting me when I'm mile away from them I don't see how this game will live long enough. (We still manage to get to Turn 5 each week through pain and suffering (especially when our healers start to freeze for 5-10 secs mid-battle), this issue is really gamebreaking and I don't see SE doing anything about it).

It's pretty clear what he thinks is the root cause, but the fact is that Odin and Behemoth are non-instanced world bosses that a lot of people want to kill. I've been in one, I know the pain of not being able to see the boss, or for that matter, being able to target any of my party members. The problem, though, is the people, not the hardware. If it were the hardware, then what about PCs with performance below the PS3? Wouldn't those be more limiting?

I hope they add a "limit visible players" option so that we can actually see Behemoth and Odin within fates instead of a ton of random players.

I've had zero issues with lag or being unable to target the boss in Odin and Behemoth fights... Just saying.

this is... just wow...

me myself just have a pc that not so good (I5 *forgot the code lol*, GTX 650 Ti Boost, 8GB DDR3, Standard HDD) but i CAN see cleary Odin and everyone there with no problem, my internet is just only 1MB lol

i use maximum setting lol

Quit lying, the PS3 is the source of all our problems. Your PC can't handle the game? Blame the PS3! Your cat decided to poop behind the couch? They were lagging trying to get to the literbox because the PS3 couldn't handle their fast movement.

It's funny people blame PS2/PS3 when it comes to XI/XIV yet XI had 5 expansions+6 mini addons+ continued support for 11 years and XIV ARR is less detailed in certain aspects that even XI has and the PS3 is far superior to the PS2, so you can blame "development direction" more than you can blame the PS3.

This is like... the 5th thread I see saying PS3 is the fault of FFXIV's lags and limitation problems. And once more I post these facts: Some friends of mine that play on pc with i5/i7 and good graphic cards sometimes experience more lag than I who play on a PS3 320GB Slim model, due to server issues and their own connection issues (sorry, not all of us have good internet services, it varies from one country/city to another. And... well, Odin kinda crashed Hyperion's server, didn't he?). Also, I have friends that play with old computers, and they have more graphic and lag issues than I.

This whole lag/graphic issue is not only PS3-centered, there are lots of elements to be considered.

Release the game on PC, but not the PS3. Wait for PS4 and release the game on PS4. Then port to Xbox One. Also Keep PS4/Xbox One on their own servers, and PC on their own servers.

This. I never really understood why the game renders all players in a given area, as it really slows down load times. A couple of times I've gone to the Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah and had to wait 15-20 seconds for the Inn Keeper to appear.

I just want to go to sleep, damn it.

You know this for a FACT do you? You have all the relevant data in front of you complied into a database and the one link that connects the fact that people can't see the likes of Odin and Behemoth is... they're PS3 users?

Well let me tell you something. I use a PC. I have never seen either of these mobs. Just the names and the various AOE. My friend also has a PC and she has the same problem. Most of my three linkshells use PC's and have this problem. My FC area mix of PC and PS3, again they have the same problem.

Pretty much my case as well, word for word, except i have 60+MB internet. That said if I am more than 5 feet from Odin or Behe they vanish, and Behe is 20 ft tall.

SWTOR had the same issue though, they alleviated this by having all their zones instanced so that if one area was full it would just put them into another instance to prevent this issue.

The real concern comes to what will happen locked at and players are unable to progress, will they have a countermeasure that kicks players back to town/inn if they remain idle to long, or is it going to end up turning into an issues where players are able to troll and keep zones locked out knowing they can exploit this "zone limit"

I play on PC and I always have Lag, particularly in the evenings.

Yeah, I'll toss out that not seen mobs in fates or npc taking forever to load isn't limited to the PS3. I have a PC more then capable of handling the game and a 173mb/s Internet connection and still have trouble with things loading. It's the games code, not a console. Mobs an npcs should take load priority over PCs.

imagine playing on a PC with mid range parts 10+ years ago. Thats what SE has to work with when making this game for PS3.
It was made for PS3 just to uphold a dated contract that should of never happened
Please just buy the game for PC or PS4 when it arrives. All your problems will go away.

I don't believe your PC is more then capable if you have the same issue. I play on 6.0 mb/s internet and 50+ players and 50+ mobs load perfectly fine for me along with all the animations to go along with it. its not internet speed thats not causing things to load for you its VRAM. Get a new GPU

I play on an NA server with a PS3 slim and cable internet and experience very little lag. And the reason we can't see FATEs is because of th asinine amount of people who Zerg rush through them all especially in he higher level zones combined with SE's coding deciding to render pets and other player characters before the freaking mobs. Svara was a wonderful example of how asinine FATEs are right now with huge groups of players.

70-100 ping

then you really do just need to update your PC. I can post screen shots with probably hundreds of players/mobs on the screen all at once and all their animations going on making a huge light ball

Actually you probably have 50Mb internet, megabit, not megabyte as denoted by the upper case B. 50Mb internet is around 6MB internet fyi. 50MB internet would be about 400Mb internet, not too many isp's selling that right now, just saying. I'm an IT guy, it bugs me when people mix up the B and b. and actually, since you are not transmitting very much data for ffxiv (maybe 2Mbs? tops) the rest is just wasted, or used for other pc's in your house. so a 5Mb connection would be just as fast as your 50Mb in this case. IE 50Mbs is only faster than a 5Mbs if you have the need to transfer more than 5Mbs. Bandwidth, not Bandspeed. (I pulled the 5Mbs number out of my butt fyi for the analogy)

I personally haven't come across much lag on the PS3 since the last patch, although I haven't played it on PC due to mine being under powered for this game.

Besides, I've played XI for longer than I dare think about and I only noticed lag on PC and not XBOX.

How about SE just make it so if your are 6 levels below a fate you get 0 exp that would solve some issues there.
