East Coast US Love

Up to this point all of the love for players to interact and meet with SE other then Distant Worlds has been on the west coast of the USA. I'd like to see the Fanfests start back up but if they do I'd love it if one was done on the East Coast of the US in Atlanta or even NY. Something for those of us who have no interest in traveling across the Mississippi.

From what I can tell most FFXIV players in NA are on the east coast anyways.

Screw the East coast, you dont have to travel far, get em to Europe, i dont wanna travel more than 3000 miles to get there.

I would assume Europe would get its own thing... `Cause it's not like the JP fly to us for theirs? I remember them getting their own.

I never hear anything about things happening in Europe, especially not the UK, also the FFXI and FFXIV playerbase in europe is alot smaller than US and Japan so it wouldnt surprise me if they didnt do any events here

Well when most the people I talk to are on the east coast (a lot from NY) and I haven't run into 1 person from the west coast... I'm South West myself.

west coast players are 3 hours ahead of east coast. their 9pm is our 12am. and our 6pm is their 3pm. I think they do vanafest in the west coast is because their US offices are in the west coast

There do seem to be a lot of east-coasters playing both this and XI. There was an old figure that stated that 75% of the country's population lived east of the Mississippi River. Living in San Diego, I do feel for you guys. Maybe its a weather thing, maybe its a space thing. I hear you guys are pretty cramped in NYC/Philadelphia area. I'm sure the reason we get things like E3 in Los Angeles and ComicCon in San Diego are for the weather. I don't wanna be anywhere near places like Florida or New York in June and July. And I also feel that California in general is way more progressive than the rest of the country when it comes to technological things. You've heard of east-coast bias in the sports media, right. Maybe there's a west-coast bias for technology, iunno. And as far as SE in particular, I'm sure NYC has an ample asian population, California is by far the leader in that as well as far as I've seen, its just a matter of geography. I'm just makin all this stuff up as possible reasons why you don't get things like this, I have no idea, but I'm sure a lot has to do with proximity to Japan and the weather.

Yeah good point as well. I remember the old XI support number was a local 858 area code. I thought that was really cool heh. I think they've since moved to Los Angeles.

I love a Eastcost fanfest but it wont happen the last one was done in japan. They said now that SE is more of a World company. They said maybe they do one year in EU one in JP and one in NA but for sure it be in CA like alway everything end up in CA -.-

i hoping i get a job and go to fanfest if they do one :)

Vanafest is what its called when its in Japan. Fanfest was what it was called in CA.

Not everyone going to go for one made by players the point of it all is to get inside info on the game and a ingame item and see info being release 3-6+ month later in the game.

Lots of popular websites have community gatherings. Also, it wouldn't be hard to make your own limited prizes. >_> Like Custom Shirts or maybe a Sculpture of a Goobbue eating a Raptor.

If you want information why bother going to an event? it will all be publicized later anyhow.

Screw compromise, they should have a fanfest all over the US and Europe at different times of the year. Also it be somewhere convenient or equal for everyone not in freaking NY or NY only unless they did one in NY and one in Atlanta. Same goes for Central North America.

i don't know you get to meet the team? the point is that it's a real event not a made one by some ppl that only 10ppl even go too and no one going to waste money to make Shirt and only 10-15 show up. Just like E3 and blizzcon it nice that ffxiv have it own event with ffxi also to meet the team and the info they give only giving in That event everyone else have to wait for ppl to post it online.

They even have events like ffxi had PVP that each server fight each other on a server they made all of this is pretty good stuff that real ppl don't have money to do.

Why would people even be against this kind of thing? Seriously I think some people just fight against stuff because they want to start fights not because they have a point of view on the actual debate. This isn't even debate worthy its just a suggestion that if they continue to do Fanfests in the US to do one on the east coast as well eventually.

Lots of websites have unofficial meet-ups. >_> And lots of people usually go just to hang out and meet up with their colleagues.

Waste money? Why would you consider it a waste? If a community meet is a waste of money then so too would any event officially hosted by SE, no? It's not like they are making money off the game...

wow you just don't get it do you? The point is that SE is there a cummunity meet up is pretty much the same thing but not as fun as when SE is really there hosting it. Community meet up are fun if for say you going to a park in FL or CA then yes :) but really the fun part about it is that it's SE being there giving us a bag of fun stuff like a mouse pad or something and a ingame item that you went to the event which are alway cool :) the overall point is

Community meet up are fun but

Fanfest = SE which you can ask question and so on and i'm talking about years down the road when FFXIV become P2P game and it been out for more then 3years

@Cairdeas am not even fighting :) just saying that Fanfest are better becuase SE is there vs just a cummunity meet up which a small amount of players from the same world.

I wouldn't mind having a get together of some type in Atlanta or Jacksonville in the future with players. I know Cairdeas from FFXI from Asura I believe or Remora server. There are other people I knew from XI and XIV that would be awesome to meet up and hang out talk, even if it was an SE based event, though I do prefer it was hosted by SE.
