Sounds more like opinions!
End game is what makes or breaks an MMO for me, if an MMO doesn't get it right lots of players usually leave. This game has a ton of casual players though so it may not hurt that much
Probably a mistake that I played this game from what I'm seeing, way too many casual players for my taste
sick gear bro
You should try taking lead of a failing game and revive it. I'd bet money you'd do a damn awful job compared to what Yoshi has accomplished. Give the game time, it's barely been out a month.
So how many CM runs did it take you to buy that relic?
Thread #80 about end game! I saw a lot of "I" on there, and WoW clone. I deemed this thread irrelevant after that.
Btw TL;DR
He's bored and hates end game along with the other #79 threads.
Hmm no he is pretty accurate of the assessment for the current end game. Like many MMO's that are being released these days it is no where near finished and with FFXIV it has exceptionally low variety. Wanderer's Palace only serves the purpose of providing some obscure pieces of gear for tanks and other classes whose off hands may drop there, but other than that its AK over and over. I think if we had more variety at least dungeon wise it would be a bit better. Thankfully 2.1 will be adding some more variety, but that may come too late for those who are less patient with the current state of end game content, or lack thereof.
If your bored, but aren't trying to do binding coil, then obviously this is not the game for you. Sounds like you are lazy ad want the gear handed too you. Even if you got it you would complain that it was too easy to get the gear. If you aren't playing this game to craft, do dungeons, do endgame content, or be social, why are you even here?
So you're complaining that there's nothing to do at endgame, then deciding not to do certain endgame content because there'll be nothing else to do once you've done it.
The game has been out less than a couple of months, there is no way any MMO developer can create decent content fast enough for the content locusts these days, even if there were 10 level 50 instances and 5 raids some people would still finish them within a month and then complain that there's nothing to do. If you choose to be one of those players whose aim in MMO's is to burn through everything to get leet gear asap, you're probably better off playing another MMO that has been out longer and has had a lot more time to have additional content made.
AK and CM isn't even real endgame imho. Only BC is, and turn 1 through 4 are pretty faceroll... Not that i'm not ejoying myself, but just saying...
So basically, you don't like MMOs.
Ofc, once you complete last dungeon and get best possible gear, there is nothing left. That's what MMOs are all about.
Now are you ABLE to clear it ? This is the real challenge. You make it sound as coil is easy but no one has cleared turn 5 yet. And once you manage to clear it, you will still need a few month before you get your lst gear.
so tired of these threads
you are ruining my immersion~
So what do you actually suggest Mr. Spiral?
More content? it's coming. the games been out for a month atleast we had end game content on launch..
Harder content? try Coil.
Or would you just like gear quicker? well you're shit out of luck here. It's quick enough as it is.
Some of us have been through this multiple times with multiple games.
The answer is to take your time and not rush through all the content like a lunatic, because when the content is gone - it's gone, son. Nothing left for you to do but go do something else and wait it out, now. If you so called serious MMORPG players were indeed that serious, you really should have figured this out by now, seriously.
I learned there is nothing wrong with being casual, it's better than being grumpy and bored.
I think you've answered your own question here. It does genuinely sound like MMO's are not the sort of game for you. In an ideal world it'd be lovely if there was a way for developers to create quality content faster than players could consume it, but in reality this is in no way practical. Think of the amount of man-hours needed to design everything involved with a new instance or raid compared with the time it takes to actually play it.
Enjoying MMO's comes with the understanding that there is going to be degree of repetition between content updates, especially if you aren't interested in alternative pursuits like crafting, levelling other jobs etc. Alternatively you can try to pace your gameplay or play different MMO's in rotation - there are plenty enough out there to be able to play for a few weeks to taste new content, then move onto the next.
Hey OP grind in real life or grind in fantasy which one you prefer is up to you but i wont debate if you have a silver spoon in your mouth
oh .... my .... god
I checked him out on Lodestone because of the comments... I honestly cannot contain my hatred towards someone complaining about a lack of content who BUYS his relic and skips ALL content there is (may it be boring or not). You didn't even TRY to do it on your own... why are you even playing... hush hush... calm down...
Curse words, lots of curse words.
My contention, my personal opinion, this is my basic metaphysical axiom, shall we put it that way. The existence, the physical universe, is basically playful. There is no necessity for it whatsoever. It isn’t going anywhere, that is to say that it doesn’t have some destination that it ought to arrive at. So then, in music though, one doesn’t make the ‘end’ of a composition the ‘point’ of the composition. If that was so, the best conductors would be those who played fastest, and there would be composers who wrote only finales. People would go to a concert just to hear one crashing chord, because that’s the end! Same way with dancing. You don’t aim at a particular spot in the room because that’s where you should arrive. The whole point of dancing is the dance.
This is rather silly.
Simple solution to playing the "duty finder lottery"...find a decent free company that's actively working on end game content if you don't like pugs. BC finished? No? You MIGHT be done with that by the next content update.
As far as large scale stuff, there are other forms of PvP coming. Something centered around GC/city-states...obviously not til far later, but it's coming. there's quite a bit in the works, so in the meantime.... A. Finish the content on your plate. B. Go find other games to keep you busy
I don't care if you bought your relic or not, but finish the content lol
THEN come back and complain about being bored :3
Why someone should finish something that dosnt make fun. Oo
What would be cool (in any MMo) would rdm created Dungeons an Raids. You would have a Huge Pool of bosses and Patterns, that would be used to createt a Dungeon and the Stats and Special from a Boss would be complete rdm. (one firsttime you would have a giant black sheep as Boss that act like a tank and in another run you would seen the Same Boss but he would Act as a caster).
And yes I allready getting bored from this game to, even if i not have every class at 50 or have done every HM.
op all valid points and all true.
unfortunately mostly all that you will find on this forum is blind fans (people that already have subscribed up to 6 months), and just straight up se apologists/shills that never try to counter any of your points while trying to subtly flame you.
considering how much content was recycled from vanilla this games endgame is really as barebones as it gets.
if you remember the myth cap thing and how it is artificialy supposed to inflate your sub time it kind of makes sense. they will space content as much as possible so as to get more money. dont expect any fixes/world transfers/content updates until trial times run out. and im counting the trial times that will run out from the date they reopened the digital sales.
they already have shown they are quick to ONLY fix things that will be damaging to their sub inflation. things like amdapor speed runs, hm titan/hydra/chimera bug abuse etc.
Game has been out a month... relax.
I'll never understand the "no endgame contents" crowd. You're in starter 50 gear, rings you crafted yourself, and weapons you bought and were boosted through. It's a social game - get social, buying your experiences is shallow, which is exactly your view of the game. Join or make an FC. Get 7 other players. Work on it. That's the point.
Crafted gear is better than DL gear - you're a capable crafter, so craft it.
Grinding AK? Once a day will do. Consider it a daily - it takes 35 minutes. No endgame content? The coil awaits, you've yet to try it.
The only change i'd make right now, is to balance the rewards between AK and Wanderer's - both should reward 80 Phil, 40 Myth. A little more choice would be nice.
I really like FFXIV because it feels more old school than most. I'm not rushing, not grinding, not farming, but I am having fun with my FC - a group of players i've known and played with for almost a decade. Three more dungeons, PvP, housing and a 24 man raid on the way too. This game is in surprisingly good shape IMHO.
I know this is somehow an unpopular opinion... But if they added something to DO with the best gear in the game, it would fix most of the issues (with most MMOs). When the only point is to get gear, the game is over once you get the gear. I'd like to use the gear once I get it for more than doing everything I already did to get the gear.
Yes I would play EVE if the gameplay was any good.
A few things I think they should do to make things interesting that are relatively easy to do is to reuse the old dungeons in new ways.
Not just with hard modes but also with single player challenge modes where you run the dungeons and trials alone would be interesting.
OP - If you're bored dude, just leave the game.
Don't mean that in a 'Get the hell outta here' manner, just a serious, 'go do something else if you don't like it, it's not an issue'.
I will never understand this forum and the people on it that come here to bitch and moan about something they don't like, especially if they aren't going to continue anyway.
If you don't like baseball, football, country music, olives, coffee, Mondays or just 'the dark', do you sit complaining all day that you tried it and it's sh*t?
Do you go a step further and go on a baseball forum and tell everyone who likes baseball how they're all utterly wrong and it's actually a terrible game?
If so, man, really, why? I'd love to understand that mentality.
There are a billion things you could be doing with your time, just not this. No problem! Move on.
im one of those who is completely indifferent to endgame content because i simply dont have the time to do it.
but what ia endgame? i reckon it's about challenges that allow hardcore players to be the best. so i think it isnt pushing it too far to say endgame consists of 1) challenge and 2) reward, and finally 3) variety.
1) challenge: for a game which is essentially coded, everything is going to have patterns which would eventually be deciphered. even Rubik's cube is easy if you know the formula. if it does not have patterns, it will be purely random, and I believe random mechanics will make the game frustrating?
2) reward: players will generally go for the option with the best effort-gain ratio, and there will always be a 'best' way to do it
3) variety: unless balanced to perfection, variety is pointless because of 2).
so essentially, are you just trying to say SE should balance the reward system finely so you have more options? or are you just whining?
An enlightened viewpoint, and one I must confess to sharing. And sharing is appropriate, because that's one of the greatest pleasures you can have. Taking the time to learn to dance with Titan has been one of my greatest moments so far, seeing the performance of myself and my group improve until that perfect run, with the Free Company all moving in synchronicity, anticipating, adapting, coming so close to the win many times then the final golden moment where the screen goes black and the feeling that all that rehearsal and preparation has been rewarded. If you ever need someone to help out with a dance, Moon Flow, feel free to ask me, and if I don't have prior engagements I'll always be willing :)
To the OP: I would infer from your list that you believe spamming dungeons over and over is the only thing which you can do to improve your character and prepare to start Endgame, and as a fellow Monk, can only assume you are coming here looking for suggestions to help open your 7th Chakra a little wider.
- Help others. Offer to do things for people in your FC even if you don't directly benefit. People will remember and repay your kindness.
- Instead of making gil to buy your way through difficult content, spend that gil to investing in your character until you are able to beat the content yourself. Work on your strength stat, set yourself a target and go for it!
- Do the items in your list of "endgame", but vary it up alot. Don't just log in and spam AK 8 times, mix it up, take your time over the course of the week, help people who need primal fights or weapons and get some of your tokens that way too.
- Level your subs. Check out which abilities cross class from other jobs and go out and get them (I'm currently aiming to get LNC to 34 to acquire Blood for Blood for my Monk). Of course, you say, "one should suffice"... it does, but only if you aren't aiming to be the best Monk you can be.
