I happen to be an underdeveloped 1.0 Character who would very much like to join his friends but now reading that Legacy to New world transfers is a NO GO from a Yoshi P statement. Seriously?
I can not believe that this is happening. They all started on another server because there was NO damn choice but to so otherwise and I was stuck on Balmung.
My anger with this situation can't be described in words that will make any difference most likely however I am quite upset about this change of events.
I probably would not be as upset but I actually do enjoy playing this game.
And(the question) ... if Legacy to New World transfers does get allowed in the future, how ever long from now(this time period is crucial as well) ... will there be a free set of days to do so?
Anyway. I'm just bent out of shape as I was SO looking forward to this transfer so that I could join my friends. I hope for a change in news ... although I doubt I will have such luck.

Sorry man, I feel for you, but they said repeatedly that Legacy will not be able to transfer to new servers for quite a while. They have valid reasons for this, especially after the recent actions regarding RMT.
I know that you personally, as an underdeveloped 1.0 character would most likely not be an economic problem (not having millions of gil even after the redenomination); but the majority of 1.0 characters would cause economic stress if they were able to transfer. They're making a blanket decision to not allow these transfers until all economies are stabilized. Not necessarily fair, but probably far better than using their resources to individually review transfer requests for approval. -

Hence the existence of "economic stimulus," or emergency government action that is taken in order to introduce money to an economy after a depression. Between repairs draining all of the gil from everyone's story quests before the emergency repair patch eventually went live, and then 367,700,000,000 gil being removed from the economy in a half-brained move against RMT (supposedly all from new servers), I think that it's safe to say that new servers are at the rock bottom of an economic depression right now. Their economies are very likely in sore need of some economic stimulus. What would be the harm in killing two birds with one stone by letting Legacy transfers act as the stimulus package that new servers are in need of right now? Especially if the amount of money that is allowed to be transferred with a character has a limit placed on it, as the devs have already stated will be the case for any and all types of transfers? Instead the current transfer plans are only slated to leave the new economies in an even worse state than they are already in, as this plan only allows money to exit their already suffering circulation through a one-way door.Quote:

There is so much more gil in circulation on legacy servers then new servers. Like Titan runs on Legacy servers we going for 800k-1m, new servers had people selling them for 150k, thats quite a difference. Also everyday random items you sell are more expensive on legacy.

What worries me the day they allow legacy transfers is the people coming over to new servers with every or a majority of crafts at 50.
Yes, tons of people have 50 on some crafts on new servers, but not multiple crafts. When you add in all those extra crafters to the economy I can only imagine the added pricecutting that would happen for everything on the AH. -

Them Goobbue mounts will make people jealous. :p I think it's more of a status thing.. A lot of people don't want to give up the spotlight for people who have things they never had the opportunity to get themselves. Subbing to a game so bad that it may never recover could hardly be considered an opportunity.

However despite being "underleveled", these days I don't use leves when I level up my crafting, and despite being Legacy, I generally don't buy materials from other players while leveling (I've made some exceptions with leatherworking lately, because I find monster grinding to be so much more boring than gathering for other crafts). I generally gather everything myself or visit the guild vendors, which I'm sure is what people on new servers likely do. Despite this playstyle choice, I still got my Goldsmithing from 30-50 with only three days spent working on it. That was just a few hours each day mining ores and crystals, and then ending the day by grinding them into ingots. I threw those up on the AH when I hit 50, and they made enough money overnight for me to buy a full HQ set of level 50 gear and some crafting materia. Now I can make just about anything as a Goldsmith. (I did have to sell a couple of ingots before hitting 50, because when I hit the point where I had to move to La Noscea to begin mining Electrum, I was too poor to even afford a ferry ticket. Take that, Legacy stereotypes!) If I had used all of those ingots to make things for leves, then I probably wouldn't have the gear that I ended up with, but leveling would have taken even less time. (Still, when you're already talking about just a few days, how much faster do you need to go?)Quote:

Honest answer? 1.0 was headed by another team and decisions made without this teams input. The years of time investment and money/rewards gained in 1.0 is something that they don't want to mix with 2.0.

SE already said that they were not going to allow Legacy players to transfer off Legacy servers for around 6mos. Normal (non-Legacy) players can transfer off them and normal (non-Legacy) players can transfer to them if they are not full.
So, that being said here are some choices.
1: Wait the 6mos and then transfer off
2: have your friends transfer to your server
3: re-roll on their server
4: they re-roll on your server.
5: make new friends and forget the whole thing.
That's about it that I can think of.
Though with all these "I want to play with my friends" threads, I've yet to see ONE of their friends join their thread and say "Yes, we miss him/her and want him/her to play with us!" Maybe one day. :) -

I don't know why they've decided to maintain a split community - maybe they'll post the Gil generated by each server in the Live Letter so we can understand their reasoning behind limiting character movement even within a paid service model.

Legacy characters may bring over millions of personal gil, possibly causing inflation or at least an imbalance in the markets with regard to pricing and purchasing power. What's to stop them from buying up all of a single ingredient and dominating the market for it as just one example (potash anyone?)
Legacy characters may bring over maxed crafting classes and possibly an over-abundance of crafting mats/hq'd crafts and flood the market.
I know it's likely that markets won't stabilize the way SE hopes/expects. But, I feel that they are right to at least attempt to give them time to balance.
If it turns out that they allow transfers earlier than 6 months, that would be great. I think though, that I would have to disagree with SE if they make Legacy characters wait more than 6 months, that would be a bit much. -

Come on now, if I can drop all that progress and start over I'm sure you can too. Really not hard to catch up in this ez mode game, you seriously aren't losing shit unless a cheesy ass goobue & a tattoo you almost NEVER see means enough to ditch all your friends. Have a decent amount of gil? Well that's another story, I did and ditched my character anyway, games far more enjoyable with friends. But hey, I suppose waiting months guessing on when they will release your shackles works too. -

How under-developed are you talking here? If it's a matter of playing with friends and not, I'd say just bite the bullet and re-roll. I was lucky enough to get my friends onto the my legacy server (boy was it tight though with how fast they filled).
You'll get *some* of your legacy stuff in mail when you start your new character. I think the only things you can't get are old achievements, dated gear you'd kept, and the Goobbue mount. -

Don't forget that some of us also had XI accounts going during 1.0 so there's the reward for that, the Hermes Sandals. Never going to see those again if you remake. And there's also the fact that some of us made our characters such that we'd feel some loss at not having them, I know I would. I may not have all classes at 50, all artifact armor or millions of gil, but I'd miss my character.

There seems to be a lot of misconceptions about Legacy characters flying around here. Sure, *some* of us have everything at 50, multiple relics and millions of gil... but that's not the norm at all. I personally have one level 50 class, no relic and about 30,000 gil saved up, and in my experience the other Legacy players I bump into day-to-day are in a very similar situation - what harm would it really do to allow people to play with their friends? If people are that scared of Legacy players messing things up why not introduce a ticket system so they have to be invited to new servers by friends?

Thankfully after a month, I was able to get my husband on my Legacy server, or I'd be SOL.
2. I started lvl 28 w/ 30k gil. I've seen many new players blow past me. My husband went from lvl 1-50 & now loans ME $). Legacy players I've met quit before they were able to make anything of their lvl or $.

4. The most irritating? When I restarted, I tried to make another character. I didn't want to be in a JP Legacy world; however, all of my friend's worlds were booked. So I'm having to pay for mistakes of SE (round 2) & ppl tell us to suck it up! So frustrating...
