I LOVE THIS IDEA
I've suggested this in a few threads before... Just make it a scavenger or something, Triangulate/Prospect reveal Botany/Mining targets on the map, the new classes ability would reveal docile and dead animals. A docile sheep/snurble/diremite you can get fleece/tufts/web from, a dead adlgoat you can get horns/leather from, and so on.
I like it. I would be on board with this.
A+ idea! It should definitely be expanded to skins and horns as well, for a more comprehensive gathering class.
How about "bot catcher"
It can be like pokemon, everytime you find a bot, you gotta capture it

or how about a "Farmer" class, which can also grow mats for cooking and such.
Posted this on another topic the other day, my thought was they could also obtain other pieces of materials that aren't skins like fluids, milk and parts of the body, rather than just be a skinner they could pretty much gain everything that can only be gained via battle classes atm.
I know they're adding gardening of some kind to grow Ghysal greens and chocobo breeding. I doubt you can grow other plants, need a BTN for those.

I like this idea! That way a crafter can survive with gathering classes and not need a battle class to farm things like skins/fur/horns/fluids.

Though I hate to wonder what will be crafted from it all...
Why not instead of Shepherd, which seems to not really fit, why not make a node hunting class like min/bot called Trapper. The nodes would then be trapped already dead beast. I don't see them making us take the knife to their throats, and I can think of only a few mobs that wouldn't kill us on sight if we tried to bo-peep them. Trapper fits the vibe of the game.
