Yesterday I did the lvl 24 dungeon and there was this jerk complaining because two of us were watching the cut-scenes. "Watch them on youtube", "play single games" and all crap like that. Too bad that I am on PS3 so I couldn't reply accordingly (typing is a nightmare). So I thought about the following:
Since now on I'll watch ALL cutscenes as a healer. I'll make a macro:
/party "Yes, I like to watch the cutscenes. I paid for it. Do you have any problem with that? If you're not happy I may leave. You'd rather wait another 2 hours trying to find another healer?"
Really, people like that guy should be kicked in the butt. Also did anyone notice that usually they are the tanks? Apparently since they are always the first to move forward some of them think they own the game..

If you've run the duty before, and can't wait a few minutes for cutscenes, why use the duty finder to run it again? Just get a party of friends to run it and all skip the scenes...I would have made sure to let him die on the final boss before I politely abandoned duty and found another willing party. lol no healer GG! yea this happens alot to players that just want to enjoy the game and all it has to offer. I for one skip cuts now only because ive seen them all and at endgame you just want to be as timely as possible but a lvl24 dungeon shouldn't have many high lvl players running it just for item drops -_- and if he was just a lower lvl tank that felt he could control the pace of the party without the healers consent he was highly mistaken ;P.
seem he was just being a jerk or running the dungeon for a second or third class (either way he has no right to rush others) idk why ppl don't just grp for content they know they want to speed thru! -

Seriously - you most likely have one spare lying somewhere home anywhere or can get one dirt cheap. If your PS3 is too far for the keyboard cable to reach comfortably get 3 - 5 m / 10 - 15 ft USB extension cable as well. You can get both for price of monthly sub.Quote:

Putting down a line in the sand as a "good guy" is just brinksmanship posturing that has been covered ad nauseum in the forums. The more we cover these canards, the more we will be stuck living them in the game.
And you can start a pull without a healer. It may go well, it may go poorly, but the healer will be cleaning it and having argument number two about the wipe or death. It's certain to be a more divisive argument than the stupid 30 seconds you won't get back on a cutscene. -

In a proper party a healer should have plenty of time to throw up Cleric Stance and nuke with some Stone II's. So in a sense White Mages should be playing as a ghetto Black mage. However a Good White Mage will be ready to switch in and out of cleric stance at a moments notice to maximus the speed of the run and keep the tank and DPS safe. I switch Cleric Stance on and off close to 100 times in some runs.

Unfortunately, tanks also exercise the same amount of power, especially in later dungeons. I would hesitate before actually telling the other party, "let me watch my cutscene or gtfo" as that is the same as your tank saying "skip the cutscene or gtfo". Both burn bridges, and I'd hate to be caught between 2 equally stubborn players over something as stupid as watching a cutscene.
On a personal note, I agree that if a person is playing a dungeon for the first time, let them watch the cutscene though. -

The problem with this is that a DPS character should be just as entitled to watch the cutscenes as a healer is. That should just be common courtesy for anyone, regardless of the role they have.

I plan always to ask at the start if anyone has special needs either for speed or for wanting to watch, i can do either as the Tank and am willing my main message for any dungeon group is "lets all play nice" and be kind and courteous, help each other and have a nice time. Keep the healer alive and me next..i can come back asap and will as long as anyone wants to keep going and I always will do my best and am happy to accept any advice and help from anyone else too. We are in this together so lets do our best and have fun."
I plan to do dungeons for others each time i play at least two or three times to help speed up the lines. ...as both a Tank and a Healer and also I hang out at tough spots for quests to help others and to train further as Tank. Nice to learn on the job and help others too. -

You shouldn't be running anywhere except straight to the tank. If they're doing their job you should lose your aggro rather quickly. Tanks after 35 start really requiring a lot of effort to keep topped off. To that effect there's really no reason to keep them topped off, just keep them alive and above 75%. Regen is the bread and butter now, not Cure. You let the tank build their aggro and keep Regen up on them. If a DPS takes damage Regen them so you can focus cures on the Tank when needed. Between Regen and Cure I you can keep anyone alive. I farmed Brayflox for battlemage gear but it's really not that much better than what you'll get from quests so your gear is fine.

I suggested the arc because it really is tiny. About half the size of a regular keyboard. She puts it in her lap and used it to talk. If your laptop is in your lap the arc can be tossed onto the ground when you need the laptop. Seems like your thighs would get pretty warm having a laptop resting on it for extended periods of time though.

It was in Cutter's Cry and, at the time, I didn't have the Linen Cowl yet. I was going between Battlemage Robe and a Vest for gathering because of the defense perks. But at the time, I didn't see a problem with it because, in the end, it wasn't my defense getting killed, it was all the aggro that I was getting and the tank not pulling them off of me :/
@AlyssaImagine: I honestly never knew I could fight in a dungeon since I was told my only role is a healer ^^; This is my first MMO.
@Energy2K8: This was in Cutter's Cry and the Myrimadon Princess and the adds were resisting Sleep. But I'll try that strategy for other dungeons!
@16bitBounty: Unfortunately, it was either stand there and take hits or attempt to run way while the tank and the DPSs try and get aggro off of me. My Cure's were getting interrupted if I stood there or if I ran away, it was very much a damned if you do and damned if you don't and they weren't willing to admit that the fault wasn't just in my ability to heal appropriately but also in their ability to get aggro off of me. I ended up getting a new party and the tank was much better and pulling aggro off of me, so I know, for sure, it wasn't me. -
10-11-2013, 06:44 AMAkuhaFrom what I've observed since I started playing Conjurer/White Mage, I would think that the amount of breathing room you have as a healer is largely dependent on the competency of your tank. If there's aggro flying everywhere then odds are your tank isn't doing his job right. Or perhaps your DPS classes might need to throttle back their attacks a bit. But as a healer, it helps to only heal as much as you need to to keep the tank alive (keeping him around 75-80% is usually fine), especially when there's multiple strong enemies around. Toss him a quick Esuna if he gets poisoned or paralyzed. As was already stated, the Repose skill can be a godsend when used correctly, and assuming you're in a party that concentrates their fire on one target rather than everyone attacking whatever the hell they want. Right after the tank marks his targets, 1, 2, and 3, and right before the targets start pummeling him, sleep 2 & 3. At that point you should have enough breathing room for some stance dancing, that is, Cure/II > Stance > Stone II > Aero> Stance > Cure/II > Stance > etc. etc. (At least that's the rotation I usually use).Quote:

Hm. I've never used macros, honestly. I don't know how ^^; Like I said, I'm very new to this and when asking about dungeons and whatnot, I was literally only told to just heal the tank for the most part and then heal the DPSs if they need it. Actually going in and DPSing was never something I really thought about because any time I tried I managed to pick the worst moment to go through the hotbar or something (I'm also on a PS3) and suddenly my tank is back down to below 50%.
I've already been told to leave a party for trying to multitask and I really don't want to be told it's my fault again. ._. -

The DPS is always bottom priority, as if they're getting damaged it's usually their own fault for pulling too much aggro and not regulating their attacks and/or switching targets when necessary (unless the tanks sucks). As for macros, they're cake easy to use once you get a feel for them. First flip over to your actions hotbar, the one with all the red icons. Unless you fiddled with it the macro one should be L2 + Directional Button Up.Quote:
