Same sob story as you heard before - only two of us ended up on the server while the majority of our friends were unable to create a character or secure a copy of the game.

Yes you are absolutely right, but that boat had already sailed long ago and besides, we would've never picked a legacy server had this policy was clarified in the beginning, in fact if it was included along with the first server transfer announcement in early September I'd have no problem rerolling elsewhere. Except now that everything's been pushed back for so long our friends had already founded a well established FC, there is no reason why they should break up and join us (especially with the current population cap).
Like the average non-legacy characters on new servers, we do not have multiple lvl50 professions or a substantial amount of gil, I honestly don't see a reason we would have a major impact on server economy compared to an actual legacy player. It's just not the same playing by ourselves.

They seem to be worrying more about theoretical economic issues that may occur but then ignore current real issues like the teleport bots and RMT controlling the crystal market. Basically, on both fronts it seems like they're trying to piss off players. :p Arbitrary restrictions and ignoring bots that are impeding players. Priorities~
And what actual harm would that do? About everyone's 50 already. They're handing out the best gear from 1.x like candy(Darklight). They're restricting gil you can take w/ you during server transfers. For all intents and purposes, the new players have 'caught up'.Quote:

Transfers off legacy worlds will eventually be allowed after enough time has passed to where the disparity in economic conditions between the server types has shrunk (which it will gradually happen over time).
Also, if your reasons for wanting a transfer are that your friends can't create characters on your world, that should no longer be an issue. Most of the legacy worlds have character creation open most of the time. If it's too late for them to want to create a new character there, then they should be able to transfer to yours when the transfer service opens. -

while they can limit the gil you can take with you, that doesn't really solve any problem because you can just buy up goods with the gil over the limit then sell them on your new world (though you're not likely to get as much gil back for them as you would have on the legacy servers). Thus, there are still economic effects.
It's not really theoretical. The impact is pretty obvious, which is why they're taking their time with it. People knew going in that they would not be able to transfer off legacy worlds for some time. it's nobody's fault but yours if you can't wait for that to be possible, because it was made clear well beforehand.Quote:

The 'real" isuses people are speaking of can be solved by having your friends transfer to your world instead of the other way around. Character creation has been possible on every legacy world on at leas some times of the day (most of the day or all day for most of them). Your friends can create a new character now that it's possible, or they can transfer over. -

The real economic issues, as I mentioned before, were the bots teleporting around gathering items faster than should be possible, RMT controlling the crystal market, and to add one, gil essentially having little to no use. Again these are real and current economic issues and they're doing nothing to fix them. Where as this theoretical threat of more worthless currency being entered into a server is a grave concern.
Okay, you said the impact is obvious. Tell me. What permanent impact will come to the server's economy if say 100 people from a legacy server go to a specific new server? Honestly even a temporary impact will suffice. What are they going to do? Use their 'vast wealth' which others already have on the server to buy all the overpriced things willy nilly? lol. Oh noes! Also, you need to understand that there isn't only one single economy person at SE working, but several groups addressing different topics. The server transfer has nothing to do with RMT and botting. Allowing one potentially bad thing just because there exist other things that are (obviously) worse for the economy, doesn't make any sense. -

Even if that doesn't happen, gil is worthless. What are they going to do with all that gil? Hoard it because everything that's best is from dungeons and raids. Any hoarded gil is essentially out of the economy, thus not effecting it. This would actually be arguably a good thing from SE's stance since they seem to be overly concerned about inflation.
EDIT: And the the decreased prices from the new found Materia would also be a good thing for their inflation concerns. While the prices may not drop to Legacy server levels, if even just 5-10 of each Materia came to the market at once, there would be a drop in price. And actually looking at Tier IV Materia prices. Most on Goblin are already at around the ~200k level. Some ~300k. If an influx of Materia did come in, it probably would drop the price to Legacy levels.
So basically, you arguably gave me a pro for the server economy, not a con. -

Stuff on legacy generally sells for more since there is a lot more gil in the economy. Even if you are a new player and want to transfer off you will have more gil from selling stuff to legacy players since a lot of people have a lot of gil form 1.0.

The only issue I can see is Legacy players buying a ton of cheap items on Legacy and making a huge profit on non-Legacy, though if a lot of people did that the prices would start to get undercut very quickly so it wouldn't take long for Legacy pricing to hit non-Legacy, as it is I'll happily stay on my legacy server and enjoy the cheap pricing, able to attach 4 materia to my gear for less than the price of one on your non-Legacy server. Oh, and there was a queue to get into Phoenix, none for Durandal :) -

I don't particularly care, as the amount of magitek mounts idling everywhere is no less obnoxious than idling goobues in 1.x. -

They are going to let legacy transfer, at a point it no longer matters. Most People have lev 50's now, and are a t equal parts.
OThers just need to get over other aspects that yes, some will have more then they have and only their ego creates a reason to not want it.
There isn't much a real different in prices either, except higher available items from Legacy players who spend more time crafting. Except for high leve 50 gear/weapons that are currently over priced. Some others are actually very under priced on market houses at much lower then npc prices. -

Since server transfers will be happening on or before the 15th (based on the fact that they have stated mid October and also first half of October) is that at that point the game is ~2 months old. Given the speed at which people can level and grind out Darklight gear and Relics non legacy servers are not far behind legacy server in terms of progress since BCoB is the highest possible progression atm. Yoshi has stated that the transfers will have a Gil cap so they could easily make it so non legacy cap off at like 1 million Gil so that over inflating the Gil on non legacy servers is a moot point. Secondly if they are worried about people bringing over high level items so the prices would go down. Prices atm are way to high for things even on legacy servers people are charging 1.x prices for items when Gil is much harder to gain as proved by the fact that everyone lost a ton in the 1.x-2.0 conversion. Lastly they don't have a legacy server destination for large groups of friends to go.

Given that servers will have been around roughly 2 months, they can cap Gil on non legacy destinations to whatever they want, the economy would actually be more balanced with more item access, and there is no viable group transfer destination legacy server. They should allow legacy server characters to transfer to non legacy.

The only way the economy could be affected by transfers is if someone transfer off a non-legacy to a legacy. Here's why. There's obviously much more gil in Legacy servers, due to the crazy amount of gil some people carried over from 1.0 . Prices on the market are obviously higher on Legacy servers, since people have a lot of gil to spend. So the only way economy would be affected is if someone would buy some cheap high level gear on a non-legacy server, then transfer to a legacy server, and sell them at twice the price. So the problem would be going from a Non-Legacy to a Legacy, not the other way around !!
On a Legacy server, people sell their items at crazy high prices, just because people actually have enough money to buy them. Since everyone started anew at 0 gil on a non-Legacy, they are poor, therefore can't buy things on the market if overpriced, so prices have to stay relatively low if people want to sell their stuff !

Edit: And to be fair with everyone, I would obviously only allow non-legacy players to transfer to non-legacy servers. Legacy players would HAVE to stay on Legacy servers.
