I see the love and potential that went into this game, but it isn't enough for me to pay a monthly sub(stopped at titan hm)....wondering if anyone else shares this sentiment. Been playing mmo's since 97'. not trying to troll, my sub has expired I look at the forums for new content, and it just seems weak....had higher hopes.

It really depends on how much they add. I had a lot of fun until I hit level 50 and encountered grind and speed runs. I'd like to level some alt jobs, but there's too much leve / fate grinding to see the story quests for those alts.
Maybe I'll subscribe for a month now and then to play new content. -

You can create a new toon if you want and start over with the story. The Fate/leve grind is there for people that like to keep everything in one toon. It would be next to impossible to level other jobs/classes without them since you run out of quests. If you hate it nobody is forcing you to do it. I for one actually levelled to 50 doing Quests and dungeons. I only did Fates when they are nearby but I never grouped for it. I'm actually one of the few people that hate that fate grinding zerg.Quote:

I didn't expect a lot of content at launch. I really have no idea why anyone else did either. When FFXI launched it was just the base game. Rank 5 was the highest, 50 was the cap, there was no Dynamis, no Jungle, Ballista Downs was a high level PT spot, there was no SMN, NIN or SAM. It took months for those things to get added.
Why people expected the launch version of XIV to be loaded with content I'll never understand. -

Explored all the corners in the world? 100% map opened everywhere?
Tried every dungeon at least once?
Leveled all the jobs, do all the job quests?
Speak to every NPC clickable to see what they say?
The content is out there...choosing not to experience them, does not equal to the game itself not having it. -

The standard operating procedure for MMORPG (not MMOs in general) type games seems to be to release as soon as is possible, with enough content to get the game off the ground and running (only so much investment capitol available). From there, content and features are added in as the game proceeds. Seems they usually start with "quality of life" items while working towards at least one new raid level piece of content for the end game.
Hard to judge a game of this nature right out of the gate. I'd give it some time. It should start soon, and they are usually pretty well established after the first year. -

People are so thick. I levelled my alt lancer to 34 without fate grinding coz I needed the ability for my bard lol

And while helping FC members is a decent way to get some exp on the side it's not really a reliable one. FC members may not always need help and often, when they do, they're looking for a tank/healer type for it so there's those long dungeon queues I was talking about again.Quote:

I will be subbing. I'm retired and certainly could be at primal HMs by now, or could have dusted off my legacy 1.0 one, but I haven't. Game is much better if taken slow. I think in part the lower levels are better balanced tested, by a couple of patches I expect the high end to be as well. More content, repair costs already addressed ...
If your goal was to consume all tested and reasonably balanced content, then you have done so and moving along is perfectly rational. Seeing it all within the free month may even be economical. However, as a gamer from old MUDs, maybe one day I'll stumble into a community again. Too early to tell here still. So I don't see age, or date you played your first MMO as at all relevant. We have different goals for our gaming experience out of the game. You have accomplished yours, kudos. I am unsure on mine, and will sub a bit to find out if I can. -

OP looks like he's making a cry for help to somehow get people to change his mind. If you don't like it, I don't think there's anything anyone can say or do to change your mind. Best you can do is stop in again once they release a new content patch and see if that does it for you. It's not unheard of for people to do what they want for a while and unsubscribe until the next content patch comes out, and repeat the cycle.

Hmm well i think the game itself has plenty of content. My main job is level 25, and that's because i'm a slower player but also I've gotten so distracted. The game itself is so much fun and offers me so much to do :D So i have to agree with Hechicera's point there.
Though if your looking for new content, the dev team themselves have planned for a major content release every three months if i remember correctly. And 2.1 looks to be a great bit of content.
But you also have to remember this is still early in the games life. Its only been a bit over a month. Things will come around and be more established soon :) -

Sorry that I wasn't clear. I've reached 50 on a combat, gathering, and crafting class, and completed all their quests. I've completed most of the side quests and the story up to Titan HM on relic. I'm not interested in Coil, but I would like to see the other job quests (the ones you get at every 5 levels and are job specific). To level those jobs, I can do hunting logs (which I like), but I also need a lot of repeatable content, like fates, leves, and dungeons.
That's more grind than I like. I might do it for one job, but not for all the other ones. So, I enjoyed most of the content I played, and the remaining content has almost too much grind for me. That's why I'm leaning towards subscribing for a month now and then when there is new content.
