I'm curious on what other peoples rotations are and if I should actually use Thunder in mine. SMN is already lacking in useful cross class abilities. Thoughts?

Yes use thunder, also use shadowflare.
Um, theres a buncha threads discussing the rotation already.

Bio II > Miasma > Thunder > Bio > Fester > filler (usually Ruin except for the occasional Ruin II for blind) > refresh DoTs as needed, repeat.
I copied and pasted a simple rotation from that thread. Originally I was just going to post the link but thought I would add a little more. In addition, Kevee beat me to the punch by a matter of seconds and I had flagged my post for deletion due to redundancy. Feel free to keep your sarcastic, condescending comments to yourself.......
Kevee, I've been meaning to ask you.
So, I go through the full opener rotation and am keeping all my dots up.
Do you change anything during fester down time? (stuck waiting on aether flow to come back up). Or just keep runing the rotation like you would if fester was up?
Also, thanks for sharing this rotation, I've had great fun toping charts with this. And kiting the occasional CM boss <.<
For the 30s with no fester it's basically conserving mana since you never Ruin II. It doesn't change other than that. Keep DoTs up, cast ruin in between.
I've hit my posting cap for the day so I can't post anymore, but here's a response to the BELOW post:
Yes, but you might need to modify it depending on the fight and your groups DPS levels.
For instance on Titan, if you have high DPS you won't be able to get the contagion off before he jumps up, and then it'll be wasted RS timer.
For Garuda it worked fine for the first feather phase being able to bane the DoTs, although now it's even better because we just ignore feathers.
You can put RS in the initial rotation if you have no aggro problems. Generally, popping RS at the start makes me pull aggro[especially in pugs, although I'll pull aggro unless they have at least a Garuda weapon anyways..](although I admit having Quelling Strikes would probably solve this issue).
Always time RS with Contagion + at least 2 charges of Aetherflow.
Well, using Bio second means you can use Fester off the GCD instead of on the GCD. You never want to use an off-GCD skill on the GCD, if you can help it. It's just lost time.
If you use Bio first you'll need to shift around the Bio/Bio II during RS so you don't clip as much, if you're following my general rotation.
Keeve:
Given what you say
Here is a general starting rotation:
Bio II+Obey(so the pet starts attacking while you're casting) -> Miasma -> Bio -> Fester during GCD(make sure to delay it a little more until the Bio debuff is present) -> Shadow Flare -> Thunder -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Raging Strikes+Fester during GCD -> Bio -> Thunder -> Miasma -> Bio II -> Miasma II -> Fester+Rouse During GCD-> Bio -> Contagion+Spur during GCD-> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Enkindle during GCD -> Shadow Flare
Does this apply for long term fights, like bosses or primals?
Or for everything and anything?
Also, excuse my ignorance, but what is the reason and/or benefit or RS+Fester?
I would have "assumed" that before your initial rotation a Raging STrike would be a good idea. Why is it not?
Question. Does it matter the order of bio 1 and 2 I use bio 1 before 2 but other than that I use the rotation
I pop QS and RS at start not to worry about threat.
There is huge different for which one you use first actually. First off, Bio is instant cast, means you can cast it while moving. Bio II always an ideal to start the fight because you don't have to position yourself and it last very long (30s). The rotation Bio II - Miasma-Bio is set up in a way that you can easy keep track of your Dots uptime and so, they time they run out is similar, helping you from keep refreshing your Dots unnecessary.
You will never pull aggro off a competent tank geared nearly as well as you are. If you're pulling aggro, it's because the tank is undergeared.
Your rotation is going to open with 7.5 seconds of non-direct damage or burst, giving the tank more than enough time to use his enmity building single target rotation just fine. You are no Black Mage popping fire starter procs at the beginning of a fight on top of 1.5k fire I crits. Your damage takes ramp up and if the tank is losing aggro, HE is at fault.
Multi-target is a different matter as most tanks aren't used to tab targeting threat build up. But any tank with a summoner in group will learn to keep cycling targets to keep aggro when you bane DoT's.
Rotations are so laughable I'm just gonna laugh and be on my way. That other situational rotation thread is laughable too.
Here is my rotation: Macro (Bio II, Miasama, Bio) > Fester > Shadow Flare > Ruin > Ruin II, > Macro > Fester > Thunder > Ruin > Ruin II. Use Raging Strike when you want to. As for you pet also alternate Rouse and Spur. Try to keep that 40% dps boost up. Also this is just me but I love to Rouse + Spur > Enkindle :)
Edit: If you are fight a group of mobs I replace Fester with Bane and spread the love around.
