Better DPS: BLM or SMN

Which class has better DPS: BLM or SMN?

SMN because they say so.

You haven`t check the DPS forums right? Its a known fact, SMN are the best DPS class: Cause they say so.

Its not because they say so. People are running data parsing and Summoners are doing very high dps.

BLM is higher burst and aoe. SMN are higher sustained dps.

If you have an add that has to die fast or a pack of low HP mobs, BLM will wreck SMN every time. If you have fewer or single high HP mobs and no adds, BLM can't catch up to SMN.

SMN is more sustain DPS, mainly use DoT
BLM more bursty, damage spell and big number .^^

Going with Evoker on this one. That is not to say that BLM doesn't have it's place though. They have a CC, near infinite mana (so does SMN to some degree), good burst dps and the best AoE in the game (adds, etc.).

But they lose dps whenever they inevitably have to cast ice spells and their dps does not continue as efficiently if they have to move for environmental reasons :/ Summoners have great sustained damage but it does take time for it to ramp up... at least 7.5 seconds (3 DoT casts).

I'm a scholar. Not set up for damage at all.
Yet if I have Aetherflow active and another one ready to go, I can rotate Energy Drain and Ruin 2 one after another 6 times each and take down an add faster than a BLM can cast 2 or 3 fire spells.
Just one add though. If it's a bunch of them then I'm screwed :P

So scholars are the better dps. Just saying.

A blm who knows what they are doing only needs to cast ice 3 once to recover mana,if they dwell to long casting ice spells they are doing it wrong.

It does seem to be the case, but I rarely seen a blm in their 50s not knowing their rotation, any chance i bump into one who does not knowledge is shared.
