Amdapor Keep 60+ minute queues

Monday 16-Sep 2013: I have the day off work, Mythology reset happens. I had the day off work so in the 10 hours after reset I was constantly in the queue for Amdapor Keep. Only managed to complete 5 runs. That's 1 per 2 hours.

I used DF some. I tried with a set group from server joining all together. I'm a tank, so by clicking on DF I could see that the group was "full" seconds after I pressed join. The only holdup was "Reserving Instance".

Our groups on Monday did not fail to complete AK. 1 or 2 of them may have wiped a couple times, I don't really recall. So figure less than 60 mins of actual play time per run. That leaves over 60 mins in queue on average on Monday.


Tuesday 17-Sep-2013: Joined queue in the evening after work. About 6PM eastern US time. Wait 28 minutes. Window pops up for "commence", but waiting a while and 1 other person in group doesn't click "start". Wait 20 more minutes, then repeat with "commence" popping up but 1 person not responding. Wait 25-ish more minutes then finally all start. Total wait time 70+ minutes. Could have been 28 if people in group accepted, but I understand why maybe you wouldn't. Clear AK, don't bother to join queue again.


Please note that the wait time is 99.9% "Reserving Instance" - not waiting on people to become available.

Please note also that some other instances are instant start during the same time frame after you have appropriate people. Cutter's Cry, Toto-Rak, etc.

These queue times for high-demand instances NEED to go down drastically. It's great that we can finally log in reliably and I know a recent maintenance added a 3rd DF group, and maybe that helps but it's not enough. Still can't play the game to a large extent.

Everyone is spamming AK during prime time because it's the best way to get Mythology Tomes. There's a limited number of AK instances, so what's happening is they are filling up and groups are waiting in line because of it. If you can, play during off-prime hours, since then you won't have that problem.

That being said, it was significantly better today. During prime time, my group only waited on reserving instance for about 5 minutes. Then after prime time ended, it was instant queue again as a group. Until other content is released that gets MTs more efficiently, that's simply how it's going to be.

I say keep making these thread until their community manager or a developer posts an official response to our complaints. The silence treatment they've been giving us here since launch is unacceptable. They should have a community team providing us with feedback in a 24-48 hour time period. Even if it's just to say "We hear you, this may not be an actual problem but I will bring this up at the next developer meeting".

I think it's that they have to be exceedingly careful when responding officially. If you're not careful what you say when dealing with an angry mob, you may end up with a brick thrown at your face and a molotov cocktail chucked through your living room window.

The big problem with these queues is that when your party is already set up and waiting to enter (due to everyone wanting to do AK) - if someone that is set-up to party with you leaves from the queue, it replaces that person and you start right back at the beginning of the queue.

I waited 130+ minutes because of this. I kept seeing announcements for people leaving our queued party set up.

If you're not going to wait, don't queue. You screw everyone over.

Since Yoshi-P Took over from the ever so useless Tanaka, we as a gaming community was promised by the man himself better communication from them to us. And the last 3-6months communication has been terrible, anyone who played FFXI will understand me if I said it was "FFXI Terrible".

If something is being brought up as often as daily, hourly or whatever, surely someone, somewhere would think "We need some sort of response to this and soon" Hell even from a marketing standpoint, seeing it plastered all over the internet, especially today when Social Media is one of the best forms of advertisement all people see is complaints about insane Queue/Wait times. You think this is gonna do the game any favours. The longer the sit silent, the more threads appear, making it seem that the problem is getting far bigger by the day (Which honestly it is but still...)

There are numerous band-aid temporary fixes they could do, but all people really want is some insight on what they actually are doing or intend on doing.

So far really all it looks like is this issue is here to stay until the Content patch 2.1 when they add more 50 instances/content to split the population on Duty Finder server, and thats just going on info out in regards to content upcoming made from assumptions since SE are intent on staying silent on this issue, we are left to our own devices to convince ourselves whats going on. Really tho, is this actually a good idea?!

Yeah! I mean they should stop what they're doing right now to immediately go physically add more servers for a single dungeon that likely won't nearly be as congested in a month or two!

Know what used to really help with congestion issues in the dungeon? People getting in and out as fast as possible. But everyone cried that dungeons were too fast, so now people have to spend significantly longer inside, and thus tie up server space for a longer period of time.

This community got exactly what they asked for. Deal with it.

Or they could just make TWP relevant. It would spread people out a bit.
