Monks very weak. Need rebalance

Greetings. I think, that monks are the weakest DPS class in the game. For example my critical hits on level 50 with GC-weapon and some DL gear are almost always beyond 300 (260-280). Dragoons make much more damage and have very good AoE- monk not. Yes, I know about Dragon kick and Greeased lightning and yes- Im playing only monk and know this class rather good. So, I want developers rebalance monks and some of their skills- for example skill "Shoulder Tackle" is very stupid and unusable because of it LONG cool down and stupid condition of use. Thank you

Shoulder Tackle is godly, what are you talking about, it saves you a good ten seconds of running around every time you use, often saving you a stack of Greased Lightning.
And don't think that your weaker hits are any lesser to the damage of a Dragoon, certainly you're not pulling 700 damage on a hit like they do, but in the time I do one of those hits you can easily pull of two hits of 350, you attack fast, very fast. Your DPS comes out of sheer consistency and rapid damage, different from the Dragoon whose DPS comes from slower and stronger blows.

Only thing I agree with you on is the Shoulder Tackle. I remember seeing that we would all get a ranged attack of some kind, and by we all I mean every job/ class, and shoulder tackle isn't what I expected. It's cool as hell and I love beginning a battle with it, but I think a chakra, or a throwing weapon would be cool for a Monk to have.

As for DPS, if you set your rotation right, you can be critting/ attacking for 200+-300+ each hit. That's where Monks get their DPS from. It's a constant flow of damage. Dragoon is all burst, but Monk is just bambambambambambambambam...


I can tell you this.. When my FC has me in on fights with Garuda, or Titan, or DPS is sky high. I just know how to play my class to make sure my DPS is in a constant flow and that's by making sure my Skill speed is priority.

Monk problems are not related to the literal damage we put out. There is no problem there.

We are a class that deals death by a million pin pricks.

They just need to increase the buff duration of greased lightning, that's it.

GL stacks need to be able to be kept up at range and we would be on great shape.

Yes. A million little damage pricks, which marauder or lancer can do in one blow and they doesnt need to stack any buffs- just hit and no problem. And they dont need to "dance" around enemy- 3 hit lancer combo is the best thing. Monk doest have any good AoE and have little solo-damage. When arena will be open you will see what "trash" are monks

Monk rebalancing should start with GL being able to stack up to say 30 seconds, with each additional reapplication adding more time to it, instead of refreshing it. This would solve tons of issues and I prefer this route to a ranged refresher. I don't want to even think about how bad GL will be in PVP at this point if nothing is done.

We need our animations changed and reduced down to the fastest possible to work with our low GCD. Skills only fire off after their animation is completed, with Dragon Kick, ToD and Demolish having long animations, it has huge impacts on our class as they should always be used and are needed to achieve maximum DPS. Instant skills also give us issues if their animation is too long, such as Howling Fist. Where Steel Peak is perfect due to its short duration.

We also need more functional skills. OIP is practically useless at this point, however it would make an awesome PVP skill. AotD needs to be reworked as well, having an AOE silence that can only be done in one form handicaps us once again.

If melee are to be more single target focused, then both Dragoons and Monks should receive a slight increase to potency across the board. Otherwise both classes should receive additional AOE abilities. If classes are to fit in to specific roles, then make them masters of those. Right now, melee do not do the most single target damage in the game.

I would go in to server lag, however this is felt by all classes, so there is no point bringing this up.

Your entire post is a contradiction, if you actually knew the class really well and how to play it you would know MNKs have the one of best sustained DPS in the game. With that said Mnks can use some adjustments to make the class smoother to play for harder content and boss fights. All the primals HM disappear or do something where its annoying to keep GL stacks up. With my AF wep the highest crit I got so far was 650 and auto atk crits for 250.

People really need to stop thinking they know everything about a class, dumb threads like these will take MNKs in the wrong direction.
