Position Requirements -- fun or frustrating?
For me, its a fun idea in concept. It adds an extra layer of complexity to the battle system and helps beef up the skill cap for melee classes.
However, in practice, it becomes frustrating because every creature randomly spins, drops red zones, or is just flat out impossible to get into position on. The tolerance of Flank vs back seems off at times as well (I suppose due to latency).
I'm not asking for positional combat to be removed. I would just like it if the "random spin" spells didn't change a creature's orientation. So even though Hydra is constantly turning to spit Fire/Ice, the game wouldn't recognize his orientation as changed and that could be communicated by having its reticle staying pointed the proper direction.
No issues here (sorry care-bears) :3
Playing Lancer, currently a Dragoon. I have never had issues with positioning any of my positional attacks. (Currently 2 back-stabs and 1 move that makes ALL flanking attacks do more damage)
If a mob spins or turns then i have to adapt to my enemies position as I SHOULD. Positional combat will obviously be more effective in a group environment. Abilities still do damage when out of position, but not as much, so you aren't "useless" if you have to fight them.
I love this feature about the game. The difficulty of combat and content is why a lot of people play this game. You are rewarded for being in position with extra damage above the abilities 'base' damage. There is no penalty for being out of position, only extra damage if you are. At least that's how I see it <3
