New To MMO's....Highly Disappointing

I've never actually played an MMO like this before (never had the PC capable of playing one) but I like FF and when I saw that this would be available for the PS3, I was ecstatic. I got into the Beta and loved the game, actually went through withdrawals from not playing. Lol. I had a lot of fun didn't know anyone or have a community presence but it was still a great time. Fast forward to launch time, I can't play with any of my characters and can't even make a new one. As someone who's new to MMO's, it's like a child waking up on Christmas and finding no toys from Santa.

I know you seasoned players think that everyone is being a whiny little baby and feeling entitled, but it really kind of sucks that I was so happy to finally be included in a game like this just to have the rug pulled out from under me.

Yes it sucks and no one is happy with it but you have two types of people. People who are whiney and entitled and people who understand this happens with every MMO launch and a little patience goes a long way. Come tomorrow there should be a fix to the issue and everyone can put their boxes of Kleenex away.

Only the SE fanboys think people are being 'whiny little baby' I have been in on launch weeks on more than half a dozen MMO's, and many more than that overall, and this is as bad as anything I have seen when it comes to actual access. Other games have been more buggy once in game, or servers crashing, but those could actually be played.

The game plays quite well. Its just logging in that's the problem and not getting booted. Yes people are being whiney little babies.

I hope you are right, really I do!
I can't see what they are doing is going to solve this issue, but hey I'm no expert. I will just cross my fingers that their clever dev team can get this done.

If you like the game enough to put up with this VERY shaky start, then your patience will be rewarded.

If you dont, there's the door, and stop wasting time on the forums complaining. I cannot fathom why people are like "Im gonna quit" and just sit on the forums whining. We dont care about whether or not you dont want to play anymore. What you really want, is something to complain about, because maybe, just maybe, you complaining about something makes you think you're important. You arent. Go outside, so I can log in easier.

Every MMO launch I've experienced has been similar to this, at launch there is a lot of excitement about the game and everyone wants to see what the excitement is all about. SE never expected such a positive response to this game, since 1.0 blew up in their faces. It will take a couple weeks to get things sorted out. In the next two days they are going to revamp the hardware of the servers. If that isn't enough, they are discussing implementing an auto log out for idle people to keep free slots available on the servers. Don't forget many people will play till the end of their free month and then call it quits because they decide it isn't enough to hold their interest long term and will go back to another game or stalk the next upcoming release.

I can understand your confusion since you're new to MMO's. However, most MMO launches are exactly like this. Rampant with problems that should have been ironed out in ßeta. If you compare A Realm Reborn's launch week to World of Warcraft's launch week then you'd actually see that things are not as bad as they could be. The fact that we're able to play at all without character wipes or rollbacks is something to be extremely thankful for. The fact that SE actually cares enough to give us any extra game time is something to be extremely thankful for.

It probably would be a bad idea to judge MMO launches on this game. This has to be the worst launch I have taken part in, mainly down to the fact that there is no queue and no auto logging out, basic forms of design that is present in all the other MMOs I have played.

Agreed, its more like there are mature people that can go find something else to do with their time, and then there are people who sit here blubbering about their login difficulties for hours on end. I mean I get being upset about not be able to login, it is a little frustrating, but some people need to grow the F up already and remember it is just a game. They will clear it up and everyone can move on with their lives..and if anyone is really that upset about it just move on to a different game..heck come back in 2 months or something if your still interested in playing but dont want to deal with the login problems.

That said I have been able to login every single day that I have wanted to play..so I'm not seeing how some people can NEVER login. Yeah its a little rough if your trying to login during the peak hours on a weekend when everyone and their brother is also trying to play. I think SE could have prepared a little better for the number of users who found their way onto the game..but in all honesty I think many people came back for the free period and will be weeding out of the game within the next 2-4 weeks as their free periods go away.

If acting my age is being a fanboy..than I guess I am a fanboy.
