PLAYER VOICED CUT SCENES

thought i'd make a full thread on this idea cause i thought it was really good idea. we all probably want voice acting, voice overs in our main stories and granted there is coding issues possibly but this can at least be an idea for future mmo's. also can fix the issue with companies only doing it in a few languages.

the idea is making it so we can make our own voice overs. basically like mods or add ones you download peoples pre made voice overs and it adds them to the story. that way people can log onto a site and download different languages of the story, people can vote and give opinions on witch ones they liked the best.

what linkshell wouldn't want there own voices and play out the rolls of the main story in voice. granted the game and cut scenes would need to be made for this. but i can see this adding lots of fun to a mmo. can make farce versions, can make totally different lore versions, roll play ones, language translation ones, what have you. but all in all sounds like a cool way to handle voice overs. can have contests and who knows the devs and tv stars that are into the game might pop in to do it for the fun of it too. :)

How do you make your title in all caps...then not using a single bit of capitalization in the rest of your post...


On topic:

It would be a cool concept if done correctly, but considering the various types of recording programs or the lack of quality programs in the hands of most people, I don't think it would end up sounding very good.

I think the furthest extent of player voices that we should hear is through Teamspeak, Vent, Skype, etc.

Mmm grammar! Anyhow, I agree with you. This seems a tad silly, potentially an interesting idea for something else down the road, but not for 14. Also, as a developer I wouldn't really want to see people completely rewriting the stories I spent so much effort on. Eorzea has lore, people, life and death. It is a living, breathing environment that Yoshi and his team have brought to life. I wouldn't want to see that taken away.

it would be a addition to the obvious real mmo. how would they add the abilitity to add on UI issues and game mechanic add ons and health bars and not want an easy fix to language barriers ...while same time adding limitless extra fun for some players to play with and youtube and mess around with. your right it might not work for ffxiv but for other mmo's in the future i can see this being fun.

EQ2 is adding player voice in game with web cams controlling the facial features of the player in real time. so this can easily be added with ease i think. granted i'm sure they wouldn't want other peoples stories to become more popular then theres lmao. but any who. this isn't that far from easily being done. how can eq2 devs think that real time version of this would be a hot seller but adding it into the story line being a failure?

Not to derail the thread, but why not have some type of Playerspeak built into the game? Just an optional thing as a party member can enable/disable. Or even linkshell or friendlist idk?

lol really? maybe i not explain it right or something but i thought was a good idea. you realize it's just an extra thing no one needs to use, just like add ons or a mod for other games? just log into curse or something and pick one out and done or don't.

it's not like the ingame voice chat people are asking for that makes people feel like they actually have to use it to be part of the mmo. it's extra, it wouldn't need much work for the devs, and it would give players extra fun to play with.

also can see people packing youtube up with there own videos and that is just free publicity and entertainment for all even those who don't play. lmao i can picture people doing prank phone call versions. hehe but anyway all is good. guess i'm diluted in my thought of mind.

Teamspeak is a great idea and something of which a lack of implementation in XIV I never understood. It'd mean disconnections on Skype would no longer be of any consequence and Ventrilo could suck it.

Player VA? Hell to the no. Pickups for missions with a bunch of asshats which squeak their way across cutscenes to really "get in character" would suck hardcore.
