    In-Game Voice chat

I know Yoshi-P said they did not want to add this because of different languages, but I feel like if we don't have this feature it is gonna just divide the community, people not wanting to play with ps3 players cause they can not chat with them, but only with text.

Final Fantasy XI had a few problems like this but it was not a big problem cause of the slower paced combat. I personally think adding this will do more good than harm, just give us the option to mute the entire party or certain players.

Anyway thanks for reading post your your thoughts.

I have no idea how technically difficult implementing any in-game voice chat would be, but I would personally love to have in-game Party Chat and Linkshell Chat, without having to go to third party programs.

People usually get their own Vent or Mumble server. Often if there is a in game one people will still opt for getting their own vent server.

Maybe, and that's their choice, and it will always be available to those who do want it. But my two main home linkshells, none of us used Mumble or Vent and would have absolutely used an in-game voice chat.

Laptop, put it on arm of your chair, or on your sofa, open vent/mumble, disable push to talk, and speak.

Wireless headset for your PC, put on, talk. PS3 players can use them just because it's not in the same box doesn't mean you can't use both.

I'm pretty sure he did read, actually. In fact he did exactly what you asked, which was to post his thoughts on the matter. Did you just want people to agree with your post and not hear a word of an actual debate? I'm ready to disagree as well just out of spite. Come on, dude.

Anyway, I don't see why they couldn't get a feature like this going as long as they can get it done in a way that doesn't mess with connection speeds and stability and whatnot. It shouldn't be that hard for them to do, although I agree that it isn't particularly necessary right now, although if it is, there's no reason that a PS3 player can't use a Vent or Mumble app on their phone or something like a PC user would use a third party program. I'm willing to bet someone would make an add-on for just that, though it would also only be available to the PC crowd as well.

That plus have you hear in-game chat in games that support it?

I am not necessarily against implementing an in-game voice chat system, but it's not absolutely essential for PS3 players to participate in voice chat. In FFXI I knew several PS2 players who used Team Speak on their laptop while playing the game on their console. In addition Ventrillo, Mumble & Team Speak all have mobile applications available for iOS and android.

So there are options, albeit not as convenient as an in-game feature, but options nonetheless.

I don't think the point he's trying to make is "I can afford to have 20 different devices in my house to seperately run VOIP programs from my main gaming system and so should everyone else", because I remember playing XI I used to not have a router (back in the day!) and I played on the PS2, so I was only able to have one of the connections (PS2 or my PC) running at one time, meaning I was unable to take advantage of things such as VOIP or online resources in general.

I know people who would play XIV on the PC and then use their spare laptop for the VOIP (usually due to something such as the VOIP program crashing their game client on the same machine), and that's totally cool, but it would be nice to give console gamers the option to engage in VOIP through the game if it were possible for SE to manage (it might cost them more money than it's worth) especially considering that many people who play games on the PS3 such as Call of Duty, which have been known to always have a voice chat feature built into their games, likely already have a headset that they bought specifically for their PS3 (I personally have a bluetooth one for my PS3) and it would be a great additional and optional feature for those players to enjoy.

I also don't want to have the future PS3 playing community of FFXIV to feel alienated because they're unable to setup their play environment to accomodate an extra PC/Laptop purely there for the purpose of using a VOIP program.
