In everquest as a reward for world firsts, they would occasionally name one of the items after the first guild to beat certain bosses. Like the item named after Cestus Dei.
It would be nice if in 2.0, the first free company (world first) to defeat a patch boss could have a loot or item drop named after their company - ie change the name of the item so that all players who obtain it have it as that name.
Like (using D&D random names here) Flaming Longsword of Prismatic Llama or Full Plate of Dreadnought.
It works as a great reward and recognition to those who are the first to defeat content.

But I do like the idea of having great battle rewards that are recognized outside of the FC.
Like having a town crier or something (announcing FC news and perhaps game lore/quests). Or having a great party for Free Company's nation (the Grand Company they belong to) having the FC banners splayed across walls and shops, flags for sell, vendors with mead or such, perhaps put them in a record of achievements (library/art gallery with the FC winning party members in statue form) I'd go for something like that.
(Because FC names could be really stupid I'd hate to see a permanent awesome item become really stupid sounding - but wouldn't mind a a temporary party or a hall of fame with their statues - something less intrusive). -

LSs don't stay around forever. They reform, and it's highly competitive to get world firsts. The LS that kills Ifrit first is not the LS that kills Garuda first, or Moogle, etc.
