I suggested stuff like this for the other elements for RDM too.
I really don't see any reason to implement something akin to skill trees when Jobs are pretty much glorified skill trees. It'd be interesting to see, but it'd just cause even more confusion than Class/Jobs do at the moment.
As a main-classing MNK, I'd rather have my myriad of useless skills I never use replaced with skills that have even a smidgen of use, even at the level that they were obtained. Then I can talk specialization.
I never understood the concept of MP other than the fact that the fists need MP to stay above 0. However, using MP is in the MNK's design. It makes sense in the story too, absorbing aether in the field of battle and turning it into chakra. If they would utilize this in ARR and change skills around to support it, then I wouldn't have a problem.
