Hyping stuff in trailer that isn't dropping with 7.4 but much later is annoying

I know it's been a common thing for a long time, but it's sort of annoying to get hyped thinking everything in a patch trailer...is actually coming with that patch. Seeing Hildy, 3rd Cosmic Planet, and Variant dungeon in trailer only to realize that content is a month or longer away is kind of disheartening.

The special site makes it a bit more clear, but perhaps a fine print "*coming in 7.41 (Jan5th?)" ""*coming in 7.45 (Early February?)" in the trailer would better temper expectations.

i think that would pretty much destroy the flow of the trailer

in the end they are not wrong, they show everything thats coming with the patch and the patch is separated in smaller parts
they could add a release time-span tho: "from dec 16th to april 2026"

Why? Your join date says 2012 so you've been here since 1.0, you should know by now that SE doesn't just release all new content all at once, but gradually in successive patches (it allows a better workflow for catching bugs and the like). This isn't new and has been done since ARR's launch at least.

It is only new players confused by this. They are extremely consistent with how they do this right down to even minor pvp patches, that you can predict the next minor text change in 8.0 and 9.0. If you've been around for even 1 patch you probably start to "get it" that Hildibrand and relics are sub-patches.

ITT: people that counter "the situation could be improved." with "but we always did it that way."

Thing is, even if they always did it that way, is that truly a reason to not ask them to make things better/clearer? Sure, everyone who has been part of this game and its community for longer knows how things get released, but that does not mean the way things are are not somewhat flawed.

"But we always did it this way" - Also completely ignores the inevitable boredom and disinterest that stems from just incessant waiting. It's the biggest issue I have with announcements in this game. They announce it, then you wait 4 weeks to 16 months for the thing, and by the time the thing comes around, a lot of people have already lost interest.

And tbh, it's not even the waiting that gets to me. Imo, if you're not into waiting you're playing the wrong genre. It's the announcing of things that are a country mile ahead on the roadmap + the waiting. That sucks. Things shouldn't be announced until you have a reasonable time frame or date pinned down for when said thing will be released.

(this goes for anything from whole video game announcements to patch content)

The people saying that stuff practically live here and spend all day defending bad practices for free btw.
OP is absolutely right and it doesn't matter that it's always been this way. It sucks anyway. It should change.
Also can't wait to watch these guys bend themselves into knots defending fomo cash shop outfits next. Glad we got popcorn as the bis food this patch because we'll be eating a lot of it.

They clearly state the stuff that is coming in later patches on both the patch website and in the patch notes. It is just that people are not very good at reading all the information and just watch something superficial like a trailer, and that's on them.

I like it because then I'm not overwhelmed. It makes logical sense to me to not make me have to worry about progressing Cosmic Exploration when I've got raids, extremes, MSQ, etc to focus on.

This is about the trailer, not about other information provided by the devs. And its also not about people being unable to look things up.

I've recently looked into PSO2 NGS, and while that game is nowhere near as good as 14 in terms of production quality, content, and whatnot, they manage to put release dates for stuff in the trailers without compromising them.
