So imagine a trial rush where between each fight we got to choose between different augments that change gameplay for each individual job.
For instance you fight susanoo as dragoon and after clearing you choose between getting more jump charges, access to the pvp limit break for offensive/defensive use as a short cooldown skill, or partywide dragons eye tether that buff and heal allies based on damage dealt by the dragoon.
The idea is pretty much bit off of honkai star rail's special game modes simulated universe and currency wars.
