The issue seems to stem from the scaling. If no one is near the fate when it spawns, it has no HP. If it spawns next to a CE where everyone is already at, then it has the HP of a CE.
It's so dumb that it jumps from one extreme to the other. Would make so much more sense to scale it based on the amount of people in occult. But scaled back from its current high end.
Just make them scale based on the amount of players in the instance. Can't be that hard to do.
I wonder if an alternative solution is just having more fates around. One or two fates per region would probably alleviate that feeling of losing out, and then we wouldn't need to worry about HP bloated fates.
I insta-pull any FATEs I see because the more people that are around them with they're pulled, the more massively their HP gets inflated. I'm sorry but I didn't design the scaling and I don't want to spend 5 minutes fighting a FATE boss with 20 million HP. Don't stand around waiting for people to show up, just pull. I promise there will be another FATE soon.
12 years experience and they still mess up the scaling of their one open world content...
FATEs scale based on the amount of people that fought it (or one linked to it) the previous time. The game does not tell us which ones are linked.
A precedent in Bozja was that each of the 3 sections had all its FATEs linked, so the next FATE scaled based on the amount that fought the previous. This excluded ones that spawn CEs.
The way they scale depends on the TYPE of FATE:
- Boss FATEs scale HP.
- Add FATEs scale amount of enemies (which is a useless type of scaling in a Field Operation).
- Pickup FATEs scale the amount of items you need to obtain and hand in.
