Should FC Leaders Be Able to Convert Personal Homes into FC Houses?

Hey everyone,


I’ve been thinking about the ongoing housing shortages and how difficult it is for players to secure personal plots. One potential solution that might help free up more housing is allowing Free Company Leaders to convert their personal houses into FC Houses, gaining access to workshops, personal rooms, and other benefits without having to purchase a separate FC plot.
This change could benefit:

• Smaller Free Companies that struggle to obtain an FC house.
• Personal housing availability—freeing up additional plots for solo players.
• Flexibility for FC Leaders who already own a house and want to contribute to their FC without sacrificing their existing plot.

Would this be something that would help alleviate the Housing situation currently plaguing the player base or am I beating a dead horse?

How exactly does turning personal housing into FC housing free up more plots for personal use?

As an FC Leader I have an FC house AND a personal - Large in the Lavender Beds and a small FC home in the Mist - Wouldn't need the small if we could convert our large into an FC AND personal

No fully against it, because that would mean there needs to be a way to reverse it if you deceide you leave/disband the fc, because otherwise you would fully loose your house, which in other hands would lead again to people selling houses for huge amount of money because you can just invite the one, give him the lead he reverts the changes and has a private house, so the housing crysis would be even bigger

The only way to decrease the shortage is to have more districts and residential areas .all other solutions are half baked non implementable

I mean, they could also decrease the shortage by closing the loophole that lets people get multiple houses on the same account with a whole host shell FCs.... or telling the people that own entire wards because they bought them up before the "1 personal & FC house per account" limitation was put in "hey you need to pick one of these to keep and let other people have some"... There are definitely ways to fix the shortage beyond "add more wards" or "tell people to move DCs", they just don't want to implement them.

People already do this in-game, though? I do agree we need to reverse the process if the owner quits the FC or disbands it later.

I wouldn't mind sacrificing my small house for an FC just so I can share it with potential alts who could have their own rooms.

Good points: Keep in mind I'm speaking on behalf of a Guild that's been together for just over 19 years now with no intention of leaving the FFXIV chapter and just want to open my Wife and I's personal home to the FC for use thereby removing the need for the small in Mist and giving someone the ability to have a home =)

The kind sentiments that prompted your question? Much appreciated! BUT, yes, the idea you propose would, sadly, be very prone to it being abused and causing a lot more difficulties and conflicts, than things it would solve... and we already have a situation of people abusing the system to create shell FCs and grab up multiple houses (mainly to gil-farm using the workshops)... so no, I'd rather not see SE take you up on that. :) See the other "housing" thread currently up in first page here for the "new neighborhood design" I've proposed, that then added as new wards to existing worlds, I think *would* alleviate some of the housing stress issues. Not all, but some. :)

the idea is good not gonna lie but I can see some problem happening and not gonna lie some would exploit that to have FC home in ward were it shouldn't be a thing and verses Versa
