Hi everyone,
I have a friend with whom I intend to play FFXIV a lot now and past 2.0. We were asking ourselves if it's important to choose the same Grand company. If we don't, can we help each other doing grand companies stuff like quests, caravan, instanced raids, company leve, missions and skirmish?
So what would be better, choosing the same or doesn't matter?

Some of the information in that thread is a little out of date, since you can now do chocobo caravans with players from any Grand Company.
The gear available per GC is probably the deciding factor for a lot of people. It's been said many times from the reps that you shouldn't choose a GC based on gear, but if you're going to play a caster, for example, Gridania seems to have better GC gear.
I've never really invested in the GC gear and I picked the GC I wanted to be in, so that'd probably be my answer.
Agreed pick the one you like since the cutscenes are slightly different as well
