Cannot locate house I bid on a year ago

As title says, apparently I have an open bid from about a year ago that I never claimed on an alt. I tried getting in touch with Square Enix support because I am unable to bid on any houses on my main and they literally just told me to come to the forums and ask y'all...

Going into timers and clicking on estate on all of my alts does nothing. Is there any way I can fix this or find out which plot to go to? Support said they located the reason and it's because one of my characters won an auction but they will not tell me which character or which plot.

I was only bidding on medium and large houses so I think I would remember misplacing 20-40 million gil but support says that's the case. Please help, I have been desperately trying to get my FC in to a bigger house and for a year I've been having to give the money to one of my officers to make the bid for me.

If it really was a year ago, then your gil would have had several chances to go through the entire auction cycle: Bid, win/pickup, rest, repeat.

Win/pickup is the key here, as the game doesn't really notify you that you have outstanding bids on houses--you are just kind of expected to go look yourself.

If you don't claim your won plot or pick up your losing bid by the start of the next cycle, though... it's lost forever.

So, it's lost forever.

Well I expect it to be gone forever if it's actually the case, but the problem here is that I cannot bid on any bigger houses for my FC. This entire exchange with support has been bad, they kept asking me the same questions. I don't think I misplaced that much gil but I don't even care if I did I just want to be able to bid again.

If your fc already has a house, there is probably a simple explanation to this. It's related to ownership flagging.

Your hypothetical characters:

A - fc leader
B - alt in the fc who bought the first fc house (not relocations) which has not been demolished
C - alt in the fc

In this case, B would be flagged as the owner of the fc house (because B bought it) and B would be the only character in the fc who can relocate it. If you removed B from the fc, both A and C could bid and finalize a plot purchase as long as B is not a member of the fc.

I am the owner and creator of the FC. I won the first bid for the small we have now. Our very first house was auto demo'd way back when I wasn't able to log in for a while but it was just me and my alts in the FC at that time so the FC was never passed to anybody else. Then I gave the FC temporarily to my friend and when I came back that's when I was unable to bid on anything anymore. At first it told me I couldn't bid until 30 days after joining but then it started giving me another error saying I possessed the maximum amount of properties.

Oh I think I get what you're saying now. So if I kick out my alts that are able to bid on houses it might resolve the issue?

Yes, this is related to the restrictions on house ownership. It's meant to stop people from buying multiple houses on the same account, which it doesn't do, and unfortunately makes it a bit complicated for people who try to relocate their fc houses.

When you buy an fc plot for an fc who doesn't have a plot yet, the system creates a permanent record of the fc, the character buying the plot and the estate itself. At any point in time, if that character is in that fc and the fc still has the estate, only that one character on the account can relocate. Relocation doesn't change the permanent record. The only way to delete the record is to delete one of the three components: delete the character, delete the fc or demolish the estate including the workshop and rooms.

You can try to place a bid with each character in the fc. The alt that is able to bid is the owner.

Or you can kick all of your own characters except the fc leader. That should allow you to bid regardless of which character is the owner, but you will not find out who the owner is with this method. "Owner" in this context means the specific character you used to buy the first fc house.

Thank you so much for the explanation. A GM actually reached out to me while I was typing a reply, and I was able to ask someone directly who the "owner" of my house was and it is one of my alts. I could have sworn I tried to place a bid with that character before but I guess I'll have to wait for auto demo to start back again for a larger house to open up to see if bidding with my alt works. Thanks again!

If you have multiple alts in the same FC and have the cash to make multiple bids per round, remove just the "owner" of the house from your FC. Keep your main and all other alts in the FC. Once the house "owner" leaves the FC, all of your remaining characters in the FC will be eligible to place a bid for the FC.

This whole system seems like a nightmare
