Easiest solution to the gil-farm/FC-house hoarding situation

Lock ceruleum tanks to free company credits. Disable trade.
This will distinguish between the shell FCs and legit FCs.
Lock the magitek repairs in crafting too. Do not make them tradable.
Edit: Limit free company credits to FC activities (duties, crafting, gathering, etc similar in nature)

Ofc some of these house hoarders will still go out of their way but limiting ceruleum tanks will be a strong blow against it.

Detach the workshop from housing so a FC doesn't have to purchase a house to get a workshop. Switch the cost to purchase a workshop from gil to Company Credits.

Remove Gardening and give the items that are only acquired through Gardening another source (retainer ventures would be my suggestion).

Stop generating Company Credits through Expert Deliveries (though players should still get GC seals).

Yes. Add that too. Remove expert deliveries and strictly FC activity.
That should nuke all those shell FCs tbh. I wonder how difficult would it be to implement SE side.
It's such an easy and obvious solution. This would also probably put a huge blow on the RMT problem.

It's not going to nuke all shell FCs. It just makes it a lot more annoying to start one for the sake of a workshop.

It's also going to do nothing to RMT. RMT has better ways to get their hands on gil than workshops. The amount of gil the typical workshop generates in a month is far less than RMT sells in a day. I won't claim there's zero RMT that's workshop related but at best it's hobbyist level player selling to player and not the RMT businesses that cause the major RMT problems.

What it would accomplish is freeing up more plots for players to purchase for use as housing and not for use as gil farming.

No. I gather the mats and craft those legitimately and make the occasional chunk of gil selling them on the marketboard, also legitimately. You're only hurting normal players by doing this.

There's so many free housing plots for FCs that I don't see a reason to shit up the game just because you can't get that specific plot you wanted. Seriously they turned the ward where my private house is into an FC only ward and now plot after plot are expiring with no one interested in them.

1. This isn't a solution because it's easy enough to farm credits w/ a mix of crafting and GC turn ins via Expert Delivery.

2. It won't distinguish anything because a 4 man FC of friends can do ultimately do less contribution than one person with a lot of gil. Again, expert delivery.

3. Locking magitek repairs to crafting is kind of pointless since people who own submarines usually have crafters unlocked lol. So, that's not gonna change much except force them to use their crafter over buying off the MB. The materials themselves will still be tradable, even if the end product isn't anymore.

Nuking houses from people when there are thousands of FCs left across all data centers is just going to piss people off. I'd be more open to it if there literally was not a single FC house left, but there are plenty.

Is this just another: "But...I want muh mansion!!!!!!" thread disguised as submarines?

1. It is hard with a Level 50 alt made to just purchase a house. Cereleum tanks burn fast and credits are not easy to farm with a low level character.

3. Again, not easy. Well, at least someone who intend to buy 20 houses would know they would have to level 20 crafters, making it even a little bit more difficult.

It's not a disguised thread. I've been playing for a long time and I own personal and fc houses across data centres. It's just that for a feature with scarcity, it's unbelievable how easy it is to cheat the loopholes of owning shell FCs.

1. It is not hard, at all. Especially on dead servers. If you're making an alt with the purpose of farming gil, you should be going into it with gil to begin with lol.

2. ^ there's literally a guide that shows you the fastest way to level a character and FC to purchase a house by the 30d mark.

3. Levekits exist to make the process take a day per crafter or less. Again, if you're getting into the alt game you should have gil ready to blow.

So if you multi-own yourself, what's the end goal? Would you give up your houses as well to other people or is this just a "ward owners only" thing? You don't technically need all of the houses as I'm sure you don't actively play every single character you have a house with right?
