Absolute state if the great ffxiv community

I'm sick of seeing ppl say ffxiv has an amazing community. It doesnt, everywhere I go every tiny crevice has toxicity and elietism. Lethargic 1 1 1 spammers in duty roulette, Party finder, megalomaniac fc leaders. Pvp "nice job" spam, toxic mentor and anti mentor rhetoric and even here on the forums. I knew this community had issues since some time. But when did we evolve into feral beasts attacking each other for our mogstation purchases shouldering the blame off yoshi p and onto other players.

It's true that buying cashshop items sends a message to them that its OK to make them. But it's not fair to shame players for spending there hard earned cash on things they enjoy. This community is supposed to be better than this...

I hope you didn't work to hard coming up with this nonsense. There are better things you could be doing with your life. Do you realize your assessment of the community is your opinion? It only matters to you.

Okay, what's ur point. What does that have to do with people attacking and shaming each other for there cashshop purchases. And why does my personal life have to be relevant, its nice u think there's better things I could do. But ultimately its not for you to decide what a grown adult woman does with her life

People who talk about an amazing community are not referring to how well the community executes a rotation. They are talking about their kindness and patience and how welcoming they are.

Most of the people saying that the community is amazing are people who just do roulettes, seasonal events and stuff with their Free Company, because they are anxious about using PF on their own.

As for people who have overcome anxiety enough to start using PF, it really depends which parties you join. I only meet pleasant people in PF ever. Why? Because I avoid any PF descriptions that contain red flags, such as an impatient leader that is making demands or intends to kick people.

If that's the legit worst thing you can come up with that this community does, then... yeah. It's a pretty amazing community. You only have to compare "nice job" to the sort of things that happened in Halo or League of Legends.

Most people buy things from the cash shop... from veterans right down to the sprouts wandering in Central Shroud, they are riding cash shop mounts a lot of the time. The people attacking the cash shop are a tiny minority of FFXIV players who are probably Asmongold viewers.

I did not need to be called out like that.

I'm in FF14 since 2.16, and in 10 years of playing I honestly can count the really bad interactions on like... my two hands, and I'll have some fingers to spare after finishing. Can't say the same thing about other MMORPG projects I was or still am playing.

Is FF14 community perfect? No. No community is perfect so long as it consists of living people beings with different cultural backgrounds. Could it be better? Probably. But in comparison, FF14 playerbase is genuinely pretty great (especially if you spend your time actually playing the game instead of living on Forums).

What some people should stop doing is spreading (and believing) the false narrative that "great community" is somehow equal to "a pool of perfect UwU angels that have zero downsides".

I have to disagree with the original poster.

I just returned after a year away and haven't seen much toxicity before or after the break, save from (what I wouldn't call toxicity) a player informing me that I caused no damage while leveling my lvl 58 RDM in Main scenario roulette yesterday.

He wasn't wrong; I probably didn't do a lot of damage because I don't know the class, but perhaps he should have kept it to himself?

I really feel that FFXIV has the best online community of any MMORPG!

There is toxicity on every social platform. Best you can do is pick the least shite. As someone who has played mmos before there were mmos (in the MUD days), pound for pound, FFXIV is one of the least shite, and that's extremely impressive given it's size.

And I think that you're the last person to tell people how to spend their money on FFXIV, seeing that it appears you spend 15 bucks a month to get enjoyment from posting whine after whine on this board. You've made it abundantly clear your not getting enjoyment out of the game.

I hope you never enter the gacha space and see how some in there treat whales. xD

This is nothing unusual, people get butthurt that they can't afford something and lash out or are so firmly against cash shops that anyone who participates in it is automatically part of the problem and deserving of being talked down to.

If you wanna spend money in games and openly talk about it, that's the risk you run. Sucks but tis life. You can't control other people, only yourself.
