Fake Disconnects in CC

Hello,

This is not for ranked. I been playing quite a bit of casual CC and I’ve noticed that lots of players are crippling their teams by running in and as soon as engagement starts someone will disconnect.

I had a Sage on my team who did it twice in a row and laughed about it. Obviously I was not happy and of course there is no consequence for doing it because in ranked when you cripple your team you lose rank. In casual well nothing happens and you just go to next game and it’s unfortunate you see the one who crippled your team back there too. Only to engage again and for them to fake disconnect. It just makes PvP not fun.

Do people have nothing better to do with their downtime than join cc matches and fake disconnect and laugh about it? It’s honestly ridiculous and I hope the devs do something about this. This is happening way too much now.

Isn't there a 30 minute penalty for leaving a duty early? Sure it would still be annoying to encounter them every 30 minutes.

Leaving and disconnecting via pvp are different. Leaving a duty yes will give you a 30 minute penalty. However in pvp disconnecting still keeps them in the party so technically even though they aren't actively participating they are still in the match itself which does not result in a penalty once the match is over. So they can disconnect as many times as they want to troll other players and nothing happens to them. This is casual CC though. In ranked even if you disconnect in the match and your team loses you also lose rank as well.

Ah I see, I'm a bit sleep-deprived so I just assumed disconnect meant leaving. My bad.

If you catch them doing it multiple times, I'd say it's still worth reporting. Would probably fall under "Aiding the enemy / Uncooperative behavior / Lethargic behavior" and they'll be able to see if the player makes a pattern of it. Not much else that can be done, unfortunately.

The issue is, even if they lose, they get series exp and wolfmarks, just 30% less or so. If you can lose multiple matches way faster in the same time it would take you to win a match, then there is an advantage in doing so. They probably don't do it to annoy you, they probably just dislike PvP so much that they couldn't care less. It is still reportable though. What devs could do is to tie rewards to participation, if a match is longer, and your stats at the end meet a certain threshold, then the reward should be higher too. As well as decrease rewards in frontline for losing 3rd place.

You mentioned a SGE in your post, so I have to ask, did they disconnect immediately after using Icarus? Because that might not be a fake disconnect, that's probably a real one.

The game has a system that disconnects you if you move too large a distance in too short a time, probably to stop people from cheating and teleporting everywhere. If they only disconnect after using Icarus, that means they dashed to someone that used a movement ability away, which widens the gap enough to trigger the auto-disconnect.

If this isn't the case, then they might be intentionally throwing(or their internet is bad that day).

No they didn’t use Icarus. They just stood there, you know when both teams are feeling each other out while waiting for crystal to unlock. Soon as we engaged they would disconnect immediately. Did it twice in a row and laughed about it when they got back.
