Implement something to prevent tanks from soloing or duoing duties in DF

Solo-ing or duo-ing duties as in, attempting to clear synced content with only one or two people. This is completely fine in pre-negotiated groups and while playing solo, but in settings such as Duty Finder this is very disruptive and frustrating to have to deal with. This is largely done by players on tank jobs as the increased bulk of tanks and their defensive and regenerative skills and abilities allow them to survive most damage on their own in normal level content.

This type of behavior really prevents the rest of the party from participating in the duty and actually playing the game in the event the rest of the party is dead, as they can only watch as the tanks do the duty by themselves instead of just starting over and allowing everyone another chance to do the duty. I have seen situations where this has happened while other party members explicitly requested to restart the duty so they can actually participate but were ignored, including situations where newcomers were present and were thus prevented from actually playing through the duty.

I'm not sure exactly what could be implemented to best prevent this, but perhaps things such as, allowing vote dismissals or the ability to leave the duty while engaged with enemies, or fight design that could prevent tanks soloing in the presence of a light/full party.

How about instead of trying to cover up imbalances through arbitrary restrictions, we just rein back their excess sustain?

Moreover, for this tank-solos-the-boss-after-everyone-else-dies "problem" to occur in casual content... everyone else would have to have killed themselves... in casual content. If you all are doing so poorly that it's nearly as efficient for the tank to solo everything as to reset... that doesn't primarily seem a problem with the strength of tanks.

Now, I'll agree that it's rude for them to leave you on the floor instead of resetting, but... by their perspective, so might be forcing them to take even longer by resetting for you, especially if this is occurring in just the last 20% of boss HP or so.


Also, this forum is for feedback on the XIV website and XIV Companion App, not the game itself. This should probably be nested under Gameplay > Dungeons.

The issue is this occuring above the last 20% HP of the boss, or where it takes significantly longer for tanks to solo clear on their own than it would be to simply reset. This is also in situations where party deaths are happening largely to newcomers unfamiliar with the content, simple mistakes, and deaths of all healers and players capable of raising thus leading to the deaths of the rest of the party. It occurs not uncommonly and not only in parties that are truly struggling to clear the content. It's very unfair to make a simple mistake for whatever reason, die, and then be refused another chance at participating in the duty without re-queueing, especially if it would actually be faster to just reset the fight than for tanks to attempt soloing and the majority opinion is they wish to reset. Wipes are a normal aspect of doing content even if they can be frustrating, but attempting to clear content all on your own while the rest of the party is unable to participate can perhaps be considered griefing. After all, people queue up in DF at least partially for the purpose of being able to play through the fights.

I do agree that reining back excess sustain on tank jobs can be a potential solution as well, and may be easier to balance around than changing fight design entirely.

dont die or even have you tried just asking the tank to wipe it up and explain you want to learn the fight too? there really isnt anything in the TOS that says they have to wipe, you cant expect them punished, thats not really fare to them, cant really scold someone for surviving.

best bet is learn to tank yourself if you are unhappy with the performance of those you party with.

i know sometimes when the grp cant get the fight and we wiped multiple time i 100% will just finish a fight, if you want to try it again your free to re-queue, but my entire evening doesn't have to be wiping a fight to non savage non extreme non ultimate/unreal content, i'll teach anyone that wants to learn but if running roulettes i just want to get done so i can move on with my day.

You know, if the whole group wants to learn the fight and the tank ignores them, then while they are allowed to ignore you all, you're also well within your right to vote dismiss them.

I dont think this is a real problem though, Ive had it happen once or maybe twice and the tank obliged.
