Null/ enhance effect of elemental spells

Null/enhancing elemental spells has always been apart of Final Fantasy. The system gives the battling and partying a whole depth then just casting fire > fira >firga = ??? profit. I understand you guys are trying to cater to WoW players, do what you will to attract them, but losing that system is unforgivable :mad: why not just give Black Mages one spell and have them cast 3 types of that one spell, over and over and over and over. There is no point in adding Mage classes as a whole. You should take them out and call it something else and not Final Fantasy. (sorry wrong section)

they need a elemental wheel. dont know why the took it out. blm should of been the same here as it was in 11. but they gimped the system on the mage side

The balanced the system, how exactly is it gimped for both DOW and DOM to have the same amount of skills/abilities. You are pretty much saying let's give mages 100 abilities and the melee can play with 5 since you want it the XI way. Also BLM isn't gimped it's the traditional BLM, their most defined elemental spells are ice, fire and thunder giving them all elements was something done in later games but only to simplify things. Even in FF Tactics BLM only has Fire, Ice and Thunder.

Also how do you expect them to introduce new classes if you give BLM all the elemental utility? So sure as it stands now THM is single target thunder, AOE Fire combos and a non combo ice line. What's the stop them from introducing a mage which specializes in ice combos and single target fire? That's the whole point of the armoury system you level other classes to add elemental spells you might want, why you might not have access to the combo or the whole line of spells you'll at least be able to make use of said elemetal in a different way if you want a single target fire or an AOE thunder spell.

It's perfect as is, giving a mage class to much elemental utility would just OP them in the sense that now they can handle any situation so why don't we just do mana burn parties rather than using melee which don't grant any bonus when hitting foes of with an elemental weakness.

Just be patient they'll add more mage classes later on and it will be easier for them because of how they've redid magic for THM/CON it allows them to be more creative and flexible with what they can create and once we get 2-4 more mage classes then we'll most likely have a decent variety of elemental spells ranging from single target, enfeebling and AOE.

No i'm not saying i want it the XI way, it just makes sense that null/enhance is something that has been a part of Final Fantasy. Taking that element/aspect OUT doesn't make sense. Final Fantasy has always been a PARTY based SERIES. The soloing aspect of FFXIV is not what Final Fantasy has been about. Sure it's fun, but i don't think its the true nature of a Final Fantasy game.

I'm not sure what you mean by null/enhance. You mean how certain things take more/less damage from certain elements? That's totally in the game. Each enemy has an element, and it will be resistant to two elements (It's own and the one it is strong to) and vulnerable to another. In addition, some enemies take it one step further. Flans will absorb whatever element they currently are (Depends on their color, and they change element every so often), and I believe elementals and primals are immune to their element.

The problem lies with how Blackmage has been made so far. Because even though mobs have elemental weaknesses and resistances the spell lines are not made to take advantage of them what so ever. Because each line is a so drastically different in their intended role it plays a big a role in your decisions and your damage output. So while in another FF you could/would have just used another element/taken advantage of a weakness when you came to elemental resistance problems in this game your only choice is to hang up your hat and change job.

Blm needs and should be near equal in its three elements or else it may as well not command elements at all. Thats not to say no other class/job should be able to compete with it in the elements it controls but really SE shouldnt start making DOM differentiated by what singular elemental combo they can do the most damage in. Then they may as well drop the pretense and name them firemage etc

but for that BLM needs to get access to all elemental spells back again. because if there is a fire mob and you only have access to thunder, fire, and ice spells it would suck against it.

and the blm should be the real spell dmg dealer.. for that he would need access to wind spells, because fire monsters are weak to wind.


so i say.. switch all elemental spells back to BLM.. and give WHM banish back..


thats the only option to get the importance of the elemental wheel back into Final Fantasy.
and in my opinion black mage/thm doesnt make that fun to play since they splitted the abillity spells between these two mages..


it really sucks, to be honest. BLM is boring crap now.

It be balanced if Ice was not so bad, Blizzara is self aoe which unless your soloing i guess, you never use it (with exception to BLM af body fight.) cause even soloing i never ever use it. None of the Ice line combos which Blizzard couldve comboed with Blizzara changing it from an AoE to a single target spell just like the Cnj spells work. And neither Flare or Freeze combo.
Thunaga gets NO use unless Excruciate doesnt go off on Thundara. Fire line is only good on mobs that dont matter. Bosses laugh at our fire line and using it you run out of mp fast. Blm is reduce to Thunder Mage, this is not Balance.

This makse sense. BLM that doesn't practice black magic more than a water or fire spell? Come on. BLM should have the majority offensive, while whm having the majority defensive.

However in a dungeon last night for the first time in a while, as a warrior that is armed to the teeth, we absolutely suck at hate control and damage when engaging 3-7 enemies at once, where as the blm had that down without even trying.
