Rune Knights & Pixies

Pixies & Titania used a lot of Rune Magic, maybe this might be the excuse to have Rune Knight in FFXIV?

I know Rune Knights would just be Melee DPS version of a Red mage with some variations, but Rune Knights are such a cool job.

And as the job levels up you can learn higher abilities in some kind of Ivalice setting (since a lot of the abilities a Rune Knight would be known for was from FFT)

I think it would be cool to have a job which was the polar opposite to a red mage. Instead of using magic to build up for strong series of melee attacks ending with a powerful magic spell like a red mage, you can have a rune knight which uses melee attacks to build up to a spell combo ending in a powerful melee ability. The concept seems sound.

If it's ever introduced, I can't see it having anything (explicitly) to do with pixies (I could see them instructing someone on the Source via dreams, but their involvement would probably be subtext at most), since they're from a world that we're meant to believe is cut off from most people in the WoL's -- and they're locked behind an expansion, besides. After trying it in Heavensward, the devs don't seem interested in locking that kind of content behind MSQ, and it's hard not to see why.

Yep, which limits our options rather severely, it's actually notable that StB and EW Jobs originate from some of the regions we visited in that expansion, Samurai is from Far East, Red Mage is from Ala Mhigo, Reaper is from Garlemald, and Sage is from Sharlayan, but we couldn't have Jobs originating from the First in ShB because of this, though I guess we did visit Bozja in ShB for Gunbreaker, and we eventually visited Thavnair in EW for Dancer.

Yeah, the difference with all those examples is that those jobs were tied back into the Source in a way that made sense. You don't need to get to the xpac in question in order for your character to have conceivably heard about the near or far east. But the nature of the pixies' introduction and their relation to the First just makes that a lot harder to pull off.

Regardless, I certainly don't think that means rune magic is off the table just because pixies may or may not use it too. I just don't think they'll be related.

I really love this idea, rune magic is a great slice of fantasy that XIV has not really touched yet. That said, I would kinda like the job story to be set more in Il Mheg as it would suit the fae well (And its my favorite zone haha) but more Ivalice love would be cool.

I'd love to have a rune knight ish dps.
