Savage loot lockout should be removed when an ultimate is released

Groups tend to disband and reform for when ultimates are released, yet in many cases as with yours truly, some of us might not be ready. We've cleared the savage fights many times before, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll be geared up in time for the release of Omega if we have to switch jobs. If Square-Enix really wants us to experience the ultimates as genuine as possible, aka: right when they release, they really need to lower the arbitrary barriers to do so. Those of us who are capable of clearing the savages, have in fact, cleared it already, so what is there exactly to prove? That our RNG is perfect? That we had the patience to slog through weeks, maybe even months of one of by far, the most unfriendly tiers to PF?

Just because you cleared doesn't mean everyone did. There are casual statics. Tiers usually last around 6 months before getting unlocked like that.

And what does this have to do with the lockout?

Ultimates "never expire" since ilevel lock, but they also don't like to encourage people unsubbing from game so they don't unlock until two more patches after the .5 release. All done to keep subs instead of just re-subbing right when ultimate drops, and clear and farm savage gear in a day kind of things.

The savage fight should unlock 8 weeks after release.

Its a simple solution. If you actually care about the content you will have cleared by then, and have BiS gear in Week 8.

There is no logical reason to hardlock the instance and loot after 8 weeks, People want to gear multiple jobs and cant.

Except this doesn't actually achieve that stated goal. Most players lose interest long before Savage is unlocked because it takes forever and a day to gear more than your main in this game. This is especially true for PF where you can go an entire month getting absolutely nothing. That alone is a far bigger motivation killer than anything else. Conversely, when Savage is unlocked, we see an uptick in activity because people can freely re-queue whenever they want, and can play alt jobs without gimping themselves or the party.

Even if we ignore that. The rationale still doesn't make any sense if you break down their timeline. Let's review.

6.20 - January 10th
6.21 - January 24th
6.25 - March 7th (Estimation)
6.28 - April 2nd or 11th (Estimation)

This is the probable release schedule for each patch give or take a week. If you were to unsub at any point, you're going to miss content. Most raiders interested in playing several jobs in Savage are also interested in Ultimate. Therefore, they won't let their sub lapse between the initial two patches. A good portion of the raid community as a whole tends to like Deep Dungeon, 24 mans and relic farming. Thus, they'll be motivated to stay subbed throughout March, regardless.

Basically, the way content releases are scheduled. Players who want to gear multiple jobs won't unsub during the odd numbered patch cycle. In fact, they're far more likely to unsub during the even patch cycle because that's when there's a considerable lull in the content they enjoy. Case in point, December and January are incredibly dry for the raid community. So unlocking Savage in January or February won't impact subs mostly at all. It would, however, give players more to do while potentially making it easier to help those who haven't finished the tier yet. In other words, it'd be a net positive.

By that logic, the tier should never be unlocked prior to the release of a new one. After all, people are still progging 6-7 months into a Savage tier's lifecycle.

In actuality, unlocking the tier makes it easier for these players. They'll have a much larger pool of players in PF because the lack of a loot restrictions means those who have cleared can help without impacting coffer drops. Unlocking the tier doesn't stop prog any more than making Primal mounts purchasable stops people from farming them. That's just a silly argument.

An even better example. Hell, UCoB and UwU are nearly six years old and still have people progging them to this day. Making it so you could technically farm every single weapon in a day or two didn't cheapen the experience for those who cleared when you could only get a token a week.
