Talk about a double standard. AST and DRG were promised a rework but got pushed to 7.0 because "it would be too hard".

Tbh, I'm so scared of what they plan to do with AST; but if pushing it back will mean we won't get half-assed changes, I'm down for it. Still scared for the upcoming changes though; kinda sucks we have to be scared of changes to jobs. *sad face*

Well the difference is that there’s nothing really wrong with drg or ast, but paladin was bad to the point that it was being specifically excluded. Given the track record, it’s not like anyone is looking forward to the reworks.

Pally is the expansion job for Endwalker.. you've been here long enough to know that the expansion job always gets destroyed by SE at some point during its run.

To be fair, notice the emphasis I added to one word. AST was promised a rework, too. DRG was then also said to be getting a promised rework. Then both were pushed to 7.0. I honestly expect the major rework to PLD to ALSO be pushed to 7.0. If it hits in 6.3, you can complain, but I fully expect it will also get the "we'll get to that later" treatment. The Dev team will give out some buffs (DRG and AST don't need buffs PER SE since they're performing at a good level right now, especially AST, they're just clunky in a lot of ways) as a band-aid to get to 7.0, but I don't expect PLD getting any major rework.

Also note the language here: "such changes will be implemented from patch 6.3 onward" not "we're doing a full rework of PLD in 6.3 and will release the entire thing in 6.3 with no future adjustments or additions/changes.

This makes me think they'll do some potency changes and maybe change a CD timer or something, but leave the major rework for 7.0.

Also note the reason AST/DRG changes were pushed is PROBABLY because of the community - specifically SAM players freaking complaining endlessly about Kaiton being removed as if it was the single biggest and worst change in the history of gaming. I get liking an ability, but Kaiton was NOT some end-all, be-all thing, but the backlash was so hyperbolic and extreme that the Devs seemed to have decided they would push all major changes to 7.0. So blame SAMs/the community for AST (and DRG and likely PLD) reworks not coming until 7.0.

Something else interesting from the patch is that they claim to have a mythical god-tier Development team who can clear min ilv p8s, pre-nerf, with any comp of dps.

Their healers would absolutely need to be on the ball with perfect dps uptime to even come close to making that possible. So if such healers exist on the dev team, why have healers been a mess for 2-3 expansions. So many things don't add up.

It reminds of of when SCH mains throw one heck of a hissy fit at losing energy drain in 5.0 and then they got it back, but was that skill really worth it? I doubt base on what it seem to do now.

Was the skill that allowed SCH to actually have some form of free healing and movement that wasn't a straight DPS loss worth it in Shadowbringers? Wow, I sure do wonder.

Be careful what you wish for, I can already smell the rework to include a new 2 minute burst rotation already. You better not die or sleep at that said burst window or your damage goes down the drain for the remainder of the fight

AST already adheres to the 2 minute burst window though.
