Excessive amount of lv50/60 synced content is dragging down the skill level?

In my experience most of the content I see people do is their daily roulettes, and often times it takes them a couple hours a day, which comprises about 50 to 80% of their daily playtime.

In these roulettes, many many times you get around lv50 synced content.
50/60/70/80 dungeon roulette is more often than not a lv50 dungeon
leveling roulette is most of the times, in my experience, a below lv50 or a lv 51-59 dungeon
trials roulette is thornmarch, a hard difficulty trial, or at best a lv60
main scenario is all lv50
alliance roulette is more often than not crystal tower, and when it's not, people just leave.

All in all most of my friends spend almost all of their combat time playing as a lv50 or 60 restricted job and never get to touch the abilities and actions at higher levels.

I have suggested them do something about it, be it queue as a full group using the level relevant option for leveling roulettes, but they just... don't do it.

And when it comes to having to actually do level cap content, such as aglaia or ultima's bane unreal, they are clueless as to what half their job's ability kit do.

not to mention, I see a lot of people complaining about others being unskilled, to which I wonder, is this a problem induced by the roulettes system?

The game has a whole window that shows you exactly what each action does. If someone doesn't want to open it and have a look, that is on them. If they still cannot work it out, go and hit a training dummy and find out. To me, this just sounded like an excuse.

If people actually bothered to spend some time to learn their job, even if it is just attacking a training dummy, then there would me more skilled players. The only thing that creates unskilled players is that player's lazyness. Obviously, there are exceptions, however, for most, this is the case.

It could certainly have a part to play. But the low ass skill floor definately doesnt help. And this is kind of a design problem. They want as many people to be able to progress through the msq as possible so the floor is naturally really low. But when the skill floor is set at so low down, it doesnt make for fun or engaging gameplay. So it's a double edged sword and I dont think they've yet to sort it out properly. Granted I think the revisions to the duty system could sort some of this, but I can almost guarantee not to the extent where you couldnt clear just spamming cure 1 or the 1 in your 123 over and over. In my opinion, the fights should be balanced around assuming all members of the party will be "trying". How to approximate this? Idk, I'm not Mr Square Enix. At the moment, content seems to be balanced around people not trying more than anything. And that isnt fun at all. It makes roulettes nothing more than a daily chore, and a rather unengaging one at that.

I also feel like if SE could decide whether they want to make an MMORPG (most of the rpg is gone) or a Single Player game these sort of issues could be remedied in advance. Right now it feels like they're trying to turn a mmorpg into a single player game and I dont think this is good for the game's health in the long term.

So consider why this would be. The game is always getting new players. These players have a lot of content to get through and then they might choose to level their alt jobs with their FC. Then they decide to grind out a relic weapon or all of them. They end up in all of this old content for a very long time.

This is all very irrelevant. You get into the content that people are in a queue for and want help clearing, usually for the first time but not always. My experience wouldn't agree with any of this though because I normally get level 60/70/80 dungeons, a wide variety of trials from all level ranges and alliance raids from all expansions.

This has nothing to do with roulettes and everything to do with their lack of interest in reading their tooltips, organizing their hotbars and practicing their rotation on a striking dummy. If they were actually interested in level cap content, they would probably at least do Expert roulette to get familiar with their rotation.

It's not, because they choose to do these roulettes when they could choose to do level cap content instead. If dungeons were made harder, rather than making people more skilled it would make them unable to clear and quit the game. If people want to be skilled they usually go out of their way to learn by joining the balance, googling information, reading their tooltips and asking questions.

The reality is it just doesn't matter. People don't bother because they don't need to. If what they're already doing is enough to clear 99.9999999999% of the games content why would they change the way they play.

At this point you actually have to try harder to fail a piece of content than you do to beat it...

And it's a problem because the game promotes laziness. Which is then rewarded by not only completing content but the devs see this average level of play and then make content easier because of it.

In making it easier players then get lazier. The devs see this and make content easier. So the plays get even lazier. And the devs make it even easier... and round and round the wheel goes

I agree with the OP. Something needs to be done to get higher levels roulettes more often. There have been multiple jobs I finish to 90 and end up with multiple buttons that Ive never used.

As for what you get in a roulette it's based on the lowest person your match made with.. i cant remember the specifics but pretty surethey added something where it pools a duty within 10 levels of the lowest person queiing unless they drop there item levels. so in theory if everyone in the queue is 90 it should never give you a duty lower than 80...

I'd like to see the "Limiting Leveling Roulette" option shift to a general "Limit roulettes" apply to all roulettes but still work the same. 50/60/70/80, Raid, Trial, and Alliance would simply default to highest duty you can do.

A great big NOPE to this. I don't want to get Paradigm's Breach every single day. Plus this completely negates the purpose of roulettes, which is to keep all content in it active and have players fill in where needed, not just keep the high level stuff active. Unless you mean still keeping it optional and only limited to premade, which is fine.

As to the OP, if your server is accurate, aren't you on a data center that's not even a year old? I can tell you that my experience on Aether with what I get in roulette is nothing like that, but we've been an established data center for a very long time.
