Suggestion: The state of Classes and it's connection with Jobs

Congrats to everyone who has completed Endwalker, its been an amazing 10 years for our community and the team. It's exciting to see what's in store for the next 10 years.

My suggestion comes off the cuff of what we may see in the future for classes and how we can bring our newer members up to speed for the next decade of expansions.

Currently we as veteran players have seen a variety of ways classes have interacted with jobs and at this moment we currently have a system of adding new jobs but no new classes to go with it, almost as if classes have been left as an half baked, outdated element.

I would instead like to see classes tidied up abit since we are now moving to a more job oriented release with each coming expansion.

My idea? what we can see is class be the pre requisite for say 2 or more jobs.

For example

Gladiator being the Pre requisite of Paladin and now Dark Knight.
Conjurer being the Pre requisite of White Mage and Scholar.

and so on, in this way the more Jobs are released going forward the same number of classes remain, and it doesn't absolve the perquisite nature of classes going forward.

It's a naturally imaged concept in which you start off in a class, kinda like school you learn the basics of what a tank is with its basic rotation and then you branch off into multiple Jobs when you leave school.

The aggro AOE for example is something that all tank jobs use each with their own aesthetic and names but they all play the same usage. This Basic rotation will be available at the class level and each Starting City will then in turn have a class based on this role (Tank in this case) once you max that class you now have an option to branch out into multiple jobs with their own advanced rotations, style and aesthetic just like in real life.

A gladiator may take a dark path, discarding his/her shield for a darker style the Dark Knight, or may go the other way and continue to embrace the valor of a Shield and Sword Paladin.

One may argue in semantics like the other, saying what does a gladiator have to do with a paladin? a gladiator fights for sport fame and money that's not a paladin, but if we look past these little nibbles, its easier to grasp.

Scholar already needs Arcanist.

What will happen to Players that have leveled Dark Knight but not Gladiator? What if they logged out as Dark Knight? Will they be unable to use any commands and go in any instance?

Simple, Those who already have Dark Knight will be Proficient in Gladiator the class.

I used those two examples since they are both healers, if its impossible then they ar a good example of 1 class with two jobs.

So free EXP as Gladiator? With no more effort? People already hate the Arcanist double feature. I never said it was impossible by the way.
Why do should levels 1 - 29 even exist at that point?

Calm down there, free exp as Gladiator does not equate to free savage tier gear, is strawmen arguments what you are bringing to the table. I mean SE is literally letting people Play for free right now geeze, Double xp bonuses for transferred existing characters, New existing characters, Mog station xp bonuses, gladiator xp is hardly an issue for veterans who already have the Job.


Edit: In the next 10 years we could see 30 Jobs, 10 classes that's 3 jobs per class. If you already done DRK or PLD you don't do Gladiator again, your existing character just gets it.

Developers said they wish they could remove classes all together.
People here freak out once some currency gets less limited and something is devalued.

I don't see what you wish to accomplish with your suggestion. What would the added requirement add? At all? You yourself say it should be granted automatically basically. So why have it at all?

Because the ''Free EXP'' only applies to existing characters not new characters or even new players, and the classes system already exists in the game so most people have done it that have it.
If they claimed to remove class then sure but prove this, if not classes are here to stay.

Looked around. Seems i need to take the L. You can see people on this forum repeat that claim that the developers want to end classes but i couldn't find a direct quote that is without a doubt saying this. Guess i really shouldn't trust people from here.

I still don't see what you want with those class requirements. When it comes to story it won't really fit. Bard quest build on Archer. Machinist does not. Aside from more space of hotbars for macros i don't see a benefit in classes atm.

Suggestion: Have new base classes for jobs that don't have one yet. That way all jobs would be (almost) equal

This used to be a thing long ago… you’d have to lvl up 2 classes before you could unlock a Job. It was a terrible system and happily removed.

Bonus. They also said they will never link 2 jobs to 1 class ever again. Aka, Arcanist, Summoner, Scholar.

No, this never used to be a thing, im proposing the exact opposite 1 class for 2 jobs, not 2 class for 1 job.
