Hello! Just recently Fantasia'd to a catboy because I feel it suits me better (previously Hyuran). With that said, I want to change my name now to fit the lore of a male Seeker of the Sun.
I know my last name would be Tia, as is standard for nonbreeding males. However I'm not sure what the conventions are for first names (besides the first letter representing the tribe). I love Marxel and want something either similar or phonetically the same.
Is M'arxel Tia in the realm of possibilities? What exactly are the rules for first names?

Definetely! According to this there is no hard rule to male Sunseeker miqo'te names, other than they tend to be short one or two syllables, so 'Arxel' does kind of fit, if slightly long (the letter in front of the apostrophe is their tribal denotion naturally).
The only real thing to remember is that if they become a nuhn at any time their name then becomes their female offspring's 'surname' (so, if 'M'arxel' becomes 'M'arxel Nuhn' at any time, his female children he sired would all have 'Arxel' as their surname). :D
Having said that, there is nothing stopping you having a completely different name, and just saying "he doesn't know what his real name is as he was an orphan", or "he left his tribe and changed his name to something else to reflect his new life" is perfectly fine - the lore isn't that immutable! (This is the excuse I've made for my character's non-Sunseeker name, her parents left their tribe and turned their backs on their old tribal lives and chose new names, so Enki's name reflected that). It's entirelly up to you! :D -

There's various name generators, such as this and this (for the second one, first five are Seeker names), that take the conventions of the name but offer more possibilities than the in-game name generator.
And, of course, you can always play with said in-game name generator to get an idea of things.
Now with that out of the way, M'arxel Tia seems pretty ok. It doesn't take after the totems' phonemes, but it fits the structural profile well enough - and I think it will be really, really rare that you'd encounter someone nerdy enough to know the difference, and as Enki noted, there are plenty of reasons for a name to not be perfectly conforming to what's on paper. -

(Alphabetical order is done manually so it's by individual name rather than tribe, so tell me if you spot any oddities with the order.)

It's worth noting that the spellings of IRL family names can drift a bit over time as well, so there's a potential in-universe excuse for what is likely just a typo in the Romanized text. I have relatives with (to me) really weird spellings of what is technically the same family name when you go back far enough.
As for game names... W'fharl (corrupted from my 1.0 Hyur name (also my forum handle), with tribe letter added) is close enough to the in-game phonetics ('falkh/'fhul) that it's not too out-of-place, while also not being something that would be pulled from the generator. Leaving that more as an example for posterity than for OP, as the question is now a month old. -

Looking through the compiled name lists turns up a lot of minor variations in similar names, which might be deliberate or accidental on the part of the writers. Letters vary and H's get thrown in or left out anywhere they feel like it.Quote:
