A Solution is There

normally i would be a bystander bu i feel i should speak up in this case and offer a solution to our predicament which has plagued us for the entirety of FFXIV life span that being this archaic housing system which was introduced with the remastered FFXIV Online : A Realm Reborn.

Originally it was a Free Company only thing with plans to introduced single player housing at a later date, in the meantime they gave us Free Company Rooms which could be purchased for a fee, however this personal space was greatly flawed in that it left players at the mercy of those who controlled the FC itself and people easily abused their powers which made many upset understandably so.
then later came the new wards which added more plots of land and an option to be a private owner.

there were no restrictions on who could own a house and indeed people could own multiple plots of land on a single account something the developers of the system could not foresee as they left it up to the moral integrity of the player which in hindsight we know was a mistake as most if not all will always seek loop holes to exploit and use such things for personal satisfaction and greed.

they left it to the Game Masters to sort out any misconduct and ill behaviors which arose out of this abuse but even tho that settles some disputes it didnt account for the growing popularity the game would face in the coming years with record high player counts.
players asked for more houses and more wards, more districts the developers then added in Shirogane to alleviate some of that demand however the current system was still be heavily abused so much so the GMs were overwhelmed an couldnt keep up, so their next idea was to try an apartment system independent from free companies or houses. this worked for a time as they could easily push in more of these private spaces but it isn't what players wanted.
Which then now brings us to the present they took steps to prevent abuse of housing systems locking housing now to one house per world for service accounts.
and this new lotto system which will be dependent on sheer luck reducing the amount of cheating thats been reported especially thru third party exploits.
and adding a new district with in the city state of ishgard.

this lottery system was proposed by a minority group of players as feedback for suggested changes however what they failed to address in this request is the limited supply regrettably and there will still be players who never get their dream fulfilled of having a virtual living space within a fantasy world cause instead of being at the mercy of lockout timer they will now be forced to wait until the ends of time itself before they "one day" get lucky enough or enough people quit the game to open up a plot.

we can not continue like this if this feature is to survive the testament of time and not be declared a fundamental failure.
therefore let me offer you a proposal which i think all can agree would feasible and work for both us and developer.

The Ward System does not work anymore, an the lotto will further complicate matters with the demands. I know it was the vision of the teams involved to make it feel like places teeming with life and activity but this is not sustainable longterm an it only serves to push the hardware to its limits.

it is time we abandon this old ward system an leave it alone an let it disappear over time let free companies maintain them thats what groups are for no? to share one big shared space. an individual does not need to have neighbors to feel included in something thats what we have the beautiful cities an open world for to grant us inclusivity if we so desire it or the party finder, fellowship finder etc.


what players want most of all for housing in this game is their own private home space an yard to share with their friends an idle at their leisure, free of restrictions on how they can decorate this space and being able to choose the size of their home.


now lets talk about how we can achieve this goal, just like the developers craft new instanced areas for expansions they can do so for a completely instanced house area for individual players in fact they do so every expansion a new inn room is added for the various new areas so rather than do that how bout instead add a private land space for individuals instead then give players various customization options an the ability to build their own house of any size on this plot of instanced land.
this would be a good reason to encourage players to level crafts and gathering or to simply purchase materials to complete a building without having to rely on building with their own hands. and as for themes of these land instances i would propose giving players a choice to change scenery based upon the expansions they've completed so far example say one completed HW then in this instanced land they can change the scene to that of a snowy field.

The way you have it formatted right now, most readers are going to be rapidly losing interest because you've failed to talk about your proposed solution in your initial post, or even in your second. You promised them an idea with your title, not a history lesson. They may not even see your solution since you've buried at the bottom of your third post.

As for an instanced housing solution, it's already been suggested many times over the past few years. We know it's possible since apartments already are an instanced housing system. What SE needs to do is expand on it.

And another thread by someone who thinks that merely instancing housing plots will magically solve all issues with server load.
Next we see "Unable to purchase instanced plot due to available instances full" error

EOS's housing system technically can't be achieved by FF14 or WoW due to the major difference of size of player base.
Blizzard for one was much larger as corporation and more advanced in technology choose Garrison to compromise and never touch it again.
Taking FF14's current player population, the more ideal solution is a sandbox instanced like FC room and apartment in which it would makes more sense to improve on these two features instead of asking EOS style that is technically impossible.

they have resolved the issue with server load with the introduction of Shadowbringers and it worked expertly with Endwalker's launch.
these instances would not need be bought but instead be rewarded to players for completing the main game etc the only gil cost would be in building a house of your choice an size within this privatized instanced land mass.

my proposal is for the old system to be replaced and forgotten about cause we are splitting too many hairs and having arguments that achieve nothing in the end over it.
at least with a new unrestricted system they can continue to add things onto it and make it so that no one is left out of having a house for themself or to share with another/others.

I'm not saying "just stick with apartments but make them better". Apartments still have flaws (such as being tied to wings).

I was just pointing out that for everyone that says an instanced system is impossible, apartments (and the instanced housing most other MMOs use) shows that it is not.

There's also going to be no such thing as an unrestricted system. Any system will have restrictions because they need to be programmed. But new systems could have expanded limits and expanded capabilities. And agreed that no one should be left out.
