They need to find a way to detect XIV Alexander and ban people

What the title says. I just found out that it literally tells you things in the game that you shouldn't know prior. For example. WHen you do the Gold Saucer Mini Cactpot, it will LIGHT UP the ones you want to click for the highest reward... That's absurd.

Further. If any contest comes back like the Firmament, it will literally tell these people what to use each step to get the best quality. It can also adjust their ping to be near zero, allowing them to hit skills/nodes much faster than others. This doesn't need to be allowed and there has got to be a way to detect it. Clearly it's reading something in the game files to allow it to tell you what buttons on the mini cact you wanna click. Which is against ToS.

This is some kind of mod?

Anything like that can only work by reading your game logs / battle chat log.

They could just clean up what gets spit out to the logs.

For example... note the DPS parsers people use in FFXIV. They just read your battle chat log. Over in another MMO where addons are actually encouraged: Elder Scrolls Online... they disabled the ability of DPS parsers to be used to shame people by cutting out any information relating to other player's performance from the battle log. You can run a DPS meter, but it will only show you in isolation. People who want a shared meter then have to run one that takes your logs and yells it back out into a private channel for other people with that meter... And raid guilds tend to relay on having people record of a video of them attacking a target dummy to judge applications.

They could shut off the DPS meters here in a second, by just killing or cropping the combat log.

And likewise for any 'boss mods' / 'game trick mods'.

And the DPS meter that only shows you in isolation that you can run in ESO... is actually still extremely useful. I can go read a guide that tells me "execute this well, and you should see a DPS of about X..." and then look at my meter as I try to perfect my skills. And it does exactly what people always claim they're using those meters for anyway: self-training tool.

The only way the GMs/STF would be able to detect the use of Alexander (or any third-party program) would be to install a separate software onto a player’s computer that scans each of XIV’s files and the computer’s system for these tools and/or any modifications. However, this sort of software is illegal in a lot of countries (including Japan, last I checked), and with this being a global game, SE attempting to attach it to XIV would be impossible.

XIVAlexander does that? Wasn't it just an animation lock mitigating thing?

uh... all xivalex does is reduce the impact of ping on animation lock so you dont clip your abilities

Not going to lie isn't moding just one of the many benefits if PC gaming? When did it become so vilified? I mean competitive integrity is a stance I can see but it is not like FFXIV has prize pools going. So for the most part it is for personal fulfillment, if someone wants to cheapen that experience so be it. If they want to lie about it and try to get into public eye if they do not have the ability to back up their lies they will be found out rather quickly. If they do it just to flex how does that hurt anyone really?

So what exactly is the problem.

That's not XIValex that's XLauncher.
And honestly that's such an inoffensive plugin to complain about. There's a website that has been doing the exact same thing long before the plugin was even a thing.

Scanning the GAME FILES is legal. Anything outside of that is not. And to my knowledge, XIV Alexander would have to be installed IN the game files to read the data going on on screen.

You don't need a mod to win at Mini-Cactpot. There's a certain pattern you can do that'll make it impossible to miss a possible 1-2-3 or 7-8-9.

That's blatantly a lie. As it has an entirely separate UI that can be pulled up. You can turn off and on settings even while waiting in Queue. Something you can't do unless in the games options itself without the mod
