Changes to steamline Samurai

Started playing Samurai at the tail end of stormblood. It's a fun clicky class with cool mechanics to play with. I was a huge fan of how Hagakure worked back when, but that's gone and neither here nor their. This is about endwalker Samurai. Samurai is reaching critical mass on button bloat, and I want to make this topic to vocalize my complaints and criticisms of the latest version of this class hoping against hope it will get to the job designers.

Button Bloat with Tsubame and Namikiri: Samurai has so many buttons, and I think some of this is unnecessary. First is Tsubame, why this isn't attached to the Iaijutsu button is ridiculous. Add a new gui that shows your 'Tsubame cooldown', and when it maxes out, then Iaijutsu can automatically transform into Tsubame and consume this gui charge. Easy, please! Make it a circle around the sen symbols. Circles are cool.

Namikiri is the second problem button. It is essentially a separate Iaijutsu button that requires a 'ready-proc' to use. If I were to suggest something to reduce the bloat, it would be to tie this to the Iaijutsu button, but the requirement becomes that you have the ready proc from doing Ikitoshen and you have none of the three sens. The 30 second buff time from the ready proc should be flexible enough, and keeping Meikyo around in case you need to finish your Midare.

I figure this take on Namikiri might be somewhat controversial as an 'empty-sen' jutsu.

The second button bloat? Senei and Gurren. They are on the same cooldown, why doesn't the potency of Gurren just go up to Senei levels? Would it be that OP if Samurai's had the kind of aoe potency? Alternatively, give them independent cooldowns. I like the clickyness of Samurai, so more clickyness is a good thing to me.

And then there's Shoha 1 and 2. Why? Why can't Shoha 1 just become Shoha 2? I'm legit scared that in the next expansion we're just going the get single-target-namikri as the capstone.

Other personal critiques:

I hate the activation requirements for Namikiri. Ikitoshen, get a buff, do the thing. Just feels at odds when nothing about Samurai before has worked like this. It's not like Bard where since the early levels were looking for ready procs. This class has conditioned me with thoughtful resource management, Namikiri should be the same.

How would I change it? New mechanic: sword level. You gain a sword level every time you use Shoha. At sword level, say, 7, you can Namikiri. Your max sword level is 14 so you can bank 2 if you really want to, but gives you the flexibility to get your Namikiris in party buff windows.

Ikitoshen going from 60 seconds to 120 really rubs me the wrong way. I get it was probably for the sake of Namikiri, and to compensate Gurren/Senei are now only 25 kenki. It just feels... bad. Below the capstone Ikitoshen just comes off as so lame now. You use it to get to ogcds every two minutes? We gave up Hagakure in stormblood for this now!? I want it reverted (and the requirements for Namikiri changed).

Much more personal critique, but kenki management is now too easy. Less kenki overall because of the change to ikitoshen, senei and gurren kenki nerf means less planning ahead in general. I guess I'm just complaining about a lower skill floor. Oh well.

And why, oh why, is third eye have to be 3 seconds still. STILL. With it now giving 10 kenki it's more important than ever to get these right and dealing with sever tick and third eye? Am I the only one!?

As a new player I took one look at the amount of abilities of samurai and decided it was not for me. This is a shame because I like the aesthetic of the class too.

Please, I love all these buttons don't take them away from me. Also they would need to put tsubame on the job gauge so we can track its cd if we combined lai and tsubame.

Be careful what you wish for. Next thing you know, SE will come to re-work you into a completely new job and make it braindead along the way.

My only issue is Ikishoten is a straight nerf below 90, and even my friend/SAM Mentor agrees under 90 it feels bad but at 90 it's fine. It's just a really uncertain thing to fix or adjust due to Namikiri. I like the idea of tying it to shoha, but at the same time you can get shoha around every 45 seconds so, I'm uncertain.

For now Im just hoping for some buffs to potencies at best.

Despite all the buttons Sam is surprisingly straightforward, think the only things would like for Sam is remove kenki cost for Gyoten and Yaten, rare but on some occasions cant disengage cause of lack of kenki especially on lower level content, lol. Also wouldnt mind Ikishoten and Ogi just being the same button.

The only reason I would object to this is because if they didn't cost Kenki, and instead had like a 30s cd, we would be using them on cd to add damage to our rotation. It feels really bad when we have to waste our utility because optimal dps is tied into using them on cd.
