We all knew it was coming.

So, my activity on the forums is...non-existent because I normally enjoy sitting back and watching the entertainment of new Xpac posts in silence. But for some reason this time I felt like jumping in and having some fun with all of it.

I wasn't even mad to begin with, at this point the congestion has existed since 1.0 launched in the long long ago. Now, I'm not saying no one has a right to be angry, disappointed, upset, and so on. However griping about it and demanding things is going to only get you laughed at/ridiculed. Venting is fine, putting ideas out there is fine, but I was kind of expecting a lot more civility and less attacking each other out of frustration.

I remember the days of ARR launch and the other expansions, and every single time here on the forums it's the same exact thing. "I got kicked from the queue!", "I want free play time or a refund!" "2002 is a menace!" "Fix the 90000 errors!".

My homies and fellow Warriors of Light, let us chill and be cool.

No, I didnt see it coming. Not THIS. But, before the launch, what I did NOT know was about chip/equipment shortage, which lead to no new servers also combined with certain employees not being able to travel overseas to the server farms due to pandemic rules. On top of what I DID know, which was that this game has gained a severe increase in population over the last year. Im not as angry now understanding this. Its actually quite brave of them to try a launch under these conditions tbh.

Theyve had since Stormblood in 2017 to upgrade servers after that show -- then a lot of server issues during Shadowbringers on release in 2019. Can we stop using the Covid/Shortage excuse for SE being cheap and not getting servers when they had plenty of signs that they needed new servers for now 5 years?

It's shameful and disrespectful to all players who keep supporting, paying and buying the game.

They knew the state of the game beforehand. Lots of new players coming and the amount of players who bought EW too...

I work, get home, try to login and I get a 4k+ queue.
I can't wait 2 hours to play the game...

I regret so much pre-ordering this expansion. Unfortunately my sub renewed Nov 26th, so I have to stick to this for a month at least.

I payed and can't play, that's really disrespectful.

The vast majority of attacks I see are attacks on the people venting and putting ideas out there. Attacks like framing venting and ideas as "griping about it and demanding things". Any whiff of unhappiness about being booted from the queue from error 2002 or other error is met with hostility and/or dismissiveness and/or ridicule from the people white knighting for SE. Which then leads to the people that are being attacked responding in kind.

Perhaps stop trivializing people's legitimate complaints as "griping about it and demanding things"? Just putting that idea out there.

Population boom didn't happen until June 2021.

Stormblood's issues were a game design problem - the instanced trial was too early in the MSQ, and everyone hit it at once. They learned from that mistake and MSQ now has two branching paths to occupy people, neither of which has a solo instance in it. Having gotten through level 84 content now, I have not had a single time I haven't been able to move to an instance or duty. Believe it or not, different error messages often have entirely different causes.

And? Stormbloood had massive server issues -- that was the wakeup moment. SE didnt wake up and now has to eat crow because of the population boom. Shadowbringers also had server issues on its launch.

People literally need to stop defending this company for its lack of proaction. There is no more excuses for SE at a corporate level decision making. You dont need to have a degree in technical engineering to know that the server may need to be updated if they literally shit out over 17,000 players logging in for a game with suspected 2-3 million players.
