Simian Thrash should get some boost.

This definitely look cool, but other than that, this skill is just bad idea.


First of all, Compare to other R50 classes, this is the only skill that ask you to evade first and have only 2 sec period to activate it. Plus, feather foot II will cost you more time and stamina to make this skill work. So this weapon skill should be the strongest damage skill compare to other DoW R50 skilles that require no pre-condition. However, it is actually not stronger at all. Actually, it does weaker damage than lancer.

Second, this is puglist unique skill, so it suppose to be something better than normal 1000 TP for all-classes skill. However, it is not. using normal 1000 TP weapon skill for 2x do better damage, and only cost 2000 TP totally. (compare damage with Simian Thrash at 3000 TP).

So far, the only point to use this skill is for breaking left horn on NM buffalo and nothing else. It is cool skill, but it worth nothing else at all.

In this thread, I would like to voice my opinion for:

1. class-unique weapon skills get some buff to make it better than "all-classes" skill.

2. any skill with precondition such as 'evade" "guard" should become evenly stronger. Especially Simian Thrash as my example in this post.

Indeed simian trash is very weak. Often i see it dealing even less damage than jarring strike because of partial misses. It does should have its effect enhanced or, at least, having the TP cost lowered.

But seens several of the class exclusive WS are pretty weak...Iron Tempest is just beautiful..but its useless unless you want to hit monsters passing by without damaging the one that is beating you down (!!!).

I do agree exclusive WS should be the trumph card of each class, not a joke like some are.

In FFXI there were far too many worthless weapon skills and abilities. FFXIV is no different.. Quit that, darnit!

On the other hand, each skill probably has a certain stat modifier. And the ones that appear "weaker" are oftentimes being modified by a stat that normally doesn't suit the class.

I love Arrow Helix, too bad I almost never use it except to show off.

So you are saying you punching something with your fists, should do more damage than someone using a giant spear and destroying an enemy. I still have issues with monk multi-hit Weapon skills doing more than Rampage or Decimation in FF11. I would highly disagree that a punch attack should ever do more than a spear attack. But I wouldn't be against the idea of maybe after using Simian Thrash, that maybe the pugilist's Stamina usage is decreased by 1/2 for 15 seconds after using it.

It seems to me that if your Rampage isnt doing the same or more damage than Asuran Fists... then you are not setting up your gear properly. FYI decimation sucks! Rampage onry. Rampage if you have the proper ACC gear and balance of STR and attack then you should absolutely have no issues breaking into that desired damage range for Rampage. As for Simian Thrash there is a few things to consider. Being a full time MNK from FFXI for over 7 years i understand H2H. The one thing to remember with Simian is ACC ACC ACC and more ACC. Attack and STR or whatever modifier the WS uses take a side seat. Up the ACC and ACC modifier equipment, hopefully still DEX, although that is still an unknown factor and you should see your damage increase.
On many occasions my Asuran fist would do more than rampage and many other melee single handed WS. The WS i couldnt keep up with would have been Great Axe and Scythe and of course RNGs who just pwn everyone :) gotta love us lol

So because a PUG uses their fists you think they shouldn't do as much DPS as other classes, which would make them a rather worthless class? This is the dumbest thing I've read in the last 5 minutes.

@OP Simian Thrash is weak because it's technically supposed to be used to hold hate. It has high enmity generation. Too bad were rather pointless tanks as long as GLA are around.

I'd suggest removing the high enmity, getting rid of the pre-req to use it, and increase the dmg so we can actually be the DPS we'll be used as and not the semi-tank we were apparently supposed to be.

Pugilist do plenty of damage as it is and yes Simian Thrash does lack luster damage. I know we all miss the Asuran Fists from FFXI but this is not FFXI Simian Thrash sucks and most multihit weapon skills do. Chaos Thrust isn't as awesome as you think and this is from a stand point in terms of damage on NMs. Pugilist actually do really well on damage when it comes to NMs and yes it is on par with Archer and Lancer since the bloodletter debuff from Archer doesn't stick most of the time. With normal attacks pugilists beats archer and lancer and pugilist also hold their own when it comes to burst damage on NMs.

I'd say leave Simian Thrash as it is and gives us better passive traits like a critical chance boost or passive haste.

Rude much? You could've replied with something more intelligent than calling his statement as dumb. You could've said they should do almost as much damage since they are using knuckles, not their fists.

On another note, I actually think the evade option stands with their lore. They are supposed to be sort of the evasion tank. And many of their moves count on evasion. The team just needs to increase their evasion rate is all. Damage wise, I don't know

i do understand that pugs are built on evasion, but that should be a high end weaponskill not a incap ability in my opinion. people compare it to bloodletter, but yet you can have one archer in a nm battle and 4 pugs and he will use his ability more than all 4 pugs combined. yes, a pug can be used in nm battles such as the buffalo, but you only get a few because even though they have the ability to break both horns they are useless on the left one due to never being able to call the incap ability. this makes it to where only 2 incaps on the one side instead of the 3.

i just feel as though if they want it as an incap on the nm's they should have the same requirements as the other incap abilities. the damage i could deal with, but would like to actually be able to contribute to my party.
